Job Overview:
The Safeguards Technology Expert (DPRK) plays a crucial role in the IAEA's nuclear verification mission, particularly concerning the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK). Duties and Responsibilities:
The Safeguards Technology Expert (DPRK) will be responsible for reviewing, updating, and developing safeguards procedures and guidance for various DPRK deployment scenarios. This includes contributing to the documentation of safeguards approaches and verification measures, ensuring they align with IAEA policies. The expert will coordinate with counterparts across the Department to incorporate the latest concepts and analytical requirements into procedures. Additionally, the expert will contribute to tabletop exercises and training modules to validate procedures, identify gaps, and implement lessons learned. The role also involves providing technical input for procurement and equipment planning, maintaining and calibrating specific equipment, and organizing radiation protection procedures for hazardous environments.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with two additional years of relevant experience considered equivalent to an advanced degree. A Master's degree in sciences (such as physics or chemistry), technology (nuclear or mechanical engineering), or fields related to international relations and non-proliferation studies is preferred. A minimum of seven years of experience in nuclear non-proliferation, nuclear-related research, or nuclear safeguards implementation is required. Candidates should have experience in writing and editing analytical reports, contributing to training programs, and conducting engagement activities.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, with the possibility of considering additional relevant experience in lieu of an advanced degree. A Master's degree in sciences, technology, or fields relevant to international relations and non-proliferation studies is highly desirable, reflecting the advanced level of expertise needed for the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of seven years of professional experience in areas related to nuclear non-proliferation, nuclear research, or the implementation of nuclear safeguards. Candidates should have a proven track record of writing and editing analytical reports, contributing to training programs, and engaging in activities that support nuclear verification efforts.

Languages:
Excellent oral and written command of English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official IAEA languages, including Arabic, Chinese, French, Korean, Russian, and Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.

The IAEA offers an attractive remuneration package, including a tax-free annual net base salary starting at US $86,027, subject to mandatory deductions for pension contributions and health insurance.
