Job Overview: The UN DPO Programme Management and Data Intern position is an unpaid, full-time internship based in New York. The intern will work closely with the Digital Transformation Team (DTT) to support the implementation of the Strategy for Digital Transformation of UN Peacekeeping (DTS). Duties and Responsibilities: The intern's responsibilities will include supporting the implementation of the DTS through various tasks such as assisting in governance mechanisms, project reviews, and monitoring progress. The intern will engage in innovation initiatives, conduct background research on digital transformation and emerging technologies, and support the improvement of the peacekeeping data ecosystem. Additional duties include drafting communication materials, organizing meetings and workshops, maintaining organized records, and providing logistical support for the team. The intern will also contribute to capturing best practices and lessons learned from the implementation of the DTS, promoting a culture of continuous learning and innovation within the organization.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor's degree or equivalent). A field of study closely related to the internship is required, with beneficial backgrounds in Strategy Development, Innovation, IT, Engineering, Project Management, or Public Administration. Proficiency in standard computer software applications, particularly Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Teams, is also required. A strong interest in the work of the United Nations and the principles of the UN Charter is essential, along with the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds.
Educational Background: Candidates should be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master's or Ph.D. program. Proof of enrollment or completion must be provided with the application.
