Job Overview:
As the Head of the PMSO (Project Management and Support Office) Section for Ariane 6 Programmes, you will be responsible for leading a team of Controllers who provide essential project control and management support services across all Ariane 6 programmes. This role involves not only managing the team but also enhancing the professional development of Project Controllers through continuous improvements in controlling and management support processes. You will play a pivotal role in supporting Ariane 6 programme managers in making informed programmatic decisions, ensuring that projects are delivered on time, within budget, and within scope. Your responsibilities will include coordinating with various stakeholders, implementing project management best practices, and ensuring transparency and efficiency in reporting and operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Your primary duties will include leading the team of Project Controllers, providing project control and management support to all Ariane 6 programmes. You will prepare, develop, and maintain the overall programmatic aspects of the Ariane 6 programmes, covering cost, schedule, workforce, risks, and geographical return. You will implement planning and control procedures to ensure full visibility on progress, coordinate risk management and schedule activities, prepare tender documents, and participate in contract negotiations. Additionally, you will be responsible for financial implementation, periodic reporting, project reviews, and ensuring that all project changes are formally controlled and analyzed. You will also interface with industry on programmatic matters and drive continuous improvement in your areas of responsibility.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for this position, you must possess a master's degree in a relevant domain and have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience. Professional experience as a Controller, preferably at the agency or industry level, is highly desirable. Knowledge of space systems architecture, project management principles, and advanced business/project control techniques is essential. Familiarity with ESA/EU procurement regulations and experience with European Commission projects would be considered advantageous. You should also have strong analytical, organizational, and reporting skills, along with a proactive attitude towards problem-solving.

Educational Background:
A master's degree in a relevant field is required for this position. This educational background should provide a solid foundation in project management, finance, or a related discipline, equipping you with the necessary skills to manage complex projects effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of three years of relevant professional experience, ideally in a project management or control role within the space sector or a related industry. Experience in applying project management and risk management principles, as well as in preparing and negotiating major industrial procurements, is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French is required, as these are the working languages of the Agency. Knowledge of another Member State language would be considered an asset, enhancing your ability to communicate effectively within the diverse environment of ESA.
