Job Overview:
The UN Senior Business Intelligence & AI Specialist will play a crucial role in enhancing the data capabilities of UNRWA by designing, developing, implementing, and maintaining enterprise-level Business Intelligence and AI solutions. This position is expected to improve data accessibility, reporting, analytics, and decision-making processes across the organization. The specialist will be responsible for delivering high-quality data warehouse models, ETL/ELT solutions, Power BI dashboards, and AI-enabled analytics. Additionally, the role involves ensuring data quality and adherence to enterprise architecture standards while facilitating knowledge transfer to relevant technical teams. The position is based in UNRWA's Headquarters in Amman, with the option for remote consultancy in the agency's fields of operation, making it a flexible opportunity for qualified candidates.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Consultant will be tasked with providing senior technical expertise in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Warehousing, and Artificial Intelligence solutions. Key responsibilities include: analyzing business requirements and translating them into technical BI and AI solutions; designing and developing dimensional data warehouse models and analytical/semantic models; creating OLAP cubes and supporting database objects; developing, maintaining, and optimizing ETL/ELT processes and data integration solutions; designing, developing, deploying, and maintaining Power BI reports, dashboards, KPI scorecards, and AI-powered dashboards; supporting the implementation and adoption of Microsoft Copilot and other AI capabilities within BI solutions; ensuring data quality, consistency, completeness, and accuracy through profiling, validation, cleansing, and monitoring activities; providing technical advice and recommendations related to BI, Power BI, analytics, AI, and data architecture; coordinating with the Enterprise Architecture & Business Intelligence team on technical design, architecture, deployment, and production support; providing technical guidance and knowledge transfer to BI developers and relevant technical staff; preparing and maintaining technical documentation including solution designs, specifications, operational procedures, and user manuals; and performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a related discipline. A minimum of six years of relevant professional experience is required, with a strong background in Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, Software Development, or related fields. Candidates should have extensive experience with Microsoft Power BI, SQL Server, SQL development, and database scripting, as well as strong experience in Data Warehouse design and dimensional modeling. Proficiency in ETL/ELT development and data integration is essential, along with experience writing DAX and SQL. Familiarity with Microsoft SSIS and SSAS, as well as experience implementing AI-powered analytics and Microsoft Copilot, is highly desirable. Candidates should also have experience translating business requirements into analytical solutions and preparing technical documentation. Knowledge of Microsoft Azure and/or Microsoft Fabric is an added advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field such as Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline. This foundational education is critical for understanding the complex technical aspects of Business Intelligence and AI solutions that the role demands.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of six years of professional experience in relevant fields such as Business Intelligence, Data Analytics, Data Engineering, Data Warehousing, and Software Development. Candidates should have a proven track record of working with BI technologies, particularly Microsoft Power BI, and should be adept at developing and implementing data solutions that meet organizational needs. Experience in translating business requirements into technical solutions is also essential, as is a strong understanding of data quality and governance practices.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic is required for this position, as these are the working languages of UNRWA. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in both languages to collaborate with diverse teams and stakeholders within the organization.

Additional Notes:
The consultancy is based in UNRWA's Headquarters in Amman, Jordan, with the possibility for remote consultancy in the fields of UNRWA operations. This position is open to local candidates only. The selected candidate will receive a monthly remuneration of JOD 1,190.44 or its equivalent in USD for each fully completed month of service. The contract duration is for 12 months, with the possibility of extension subject to the availability of funds, continuing need, and satisfactory performance. The role operates under the supervision of the head of the Digital Impact Strategy and Data Officer, in coordination with the Enterprise Architecture & Business Intelligence team. It is important to note that the United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process, ensuring a fair and transparent hiring process.
