Job Overview: The Business Services Manager for CIMMYT India will play a crucial role in managing operations across CIMMYT India and BISA India, which operate under a shared services model. This position requires a professional who is adept at navigating complex environments and can ensure that operations run smoothly across multiple entities. The manager will be responsible for overseeing business services operations, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, and enhancing operational efficiency. The role involves frequent travel to various research stations and operational locations, requiring a strong understanding of both organizations' structures and operational needs. The manager will also be tasked with building scalable processes, tracking performance indicators, and addressing operational bottlenecks to improve service quality.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Business Services Manager will lead and coordinate business services operations across CIMMYT India and BISA India, ensuring alignment with institutional policies and compliance standards. Key responsibilities include overseeing inventory and warehouse management, maintaining strong controls over critical inventory, and ensuring efficient operational services across field stations and offices. The manager will work closely with procurement teams to ensure timely sourcing of materials, coordinate logistics for field operations, and manage fleet and travel arrangements. Additionally, the manager will ensure compliance with governance and internal controls, maintain operational continuity during disruptions, and supervise operational staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree in business administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations Management, Hospitality Management, Agricultural Business Management, or a related field. They should have at least 12 to 15 years of progressively responsible experience in operations, business services, warehouse management, procurement, logistics, or related support functions. Proven experience in managing multi-location operations, particularly in agricultural or international organization settings, is essential. Familiarity with ERP systems, especially Microsoft Dynamics 365, and hands-on knowledge of inventory management and procurement processes are also required.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in a relevant field such as business administration, supply chain management, logistics, or agricultural business management is required for this position. This educational background will provide the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to manage complex operations effectively.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 12 to 15 years of experience in operations and business services, with a strong emphasis on warehouse management, procurement, and logistics. Experience in managing operations across multiple locations, particularly in agricultural research or international organizations, is highly desirable. Familiarity with agricultural operations and the ability to navigate the complexities of such environments will be crucial for success in this role.
Languages: Fluency in English, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. A working knowledge of Hindi is considered an advantage, as it will facilitate communication within the local context and enhance stakeholder engagement.
Additional Notes: This position is offered as an initial fixed-term contract of 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability.
