Job Overview:
The UN Multimedia Assistant will play a crucial role in enhancing the digital presence and visibility of the UN in China, particularly through the Resident Coordinator's Office (RCO). This position requires the delivery of high-quality multimedia content that aligns with the communications priorities of the UN Communications Group (UNCG) and RCO. The incumbent will be responsible for creating engaging multimedia content, integrating inputs from various UN agencies into cohesive outputs, and providing on-site multimedia support for key events. The role demands a strong background in graphic design and multimedia production, with a focus on producing visually appealing products for both digital and print media. The assistant will also be tasked with organizing and archiving communications materials, ensuring that all outputs are executed reliably and professionally.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the UN Multimedia Assistant include:
  • Providing specialized multimedia and visual content support for UNCG joint communications initiatives.
  • Developing integrated content packages for inter-agency use, including short videos and visual storytelling assets.
  • Transforming inputs from multiple UN entities into coherent communications products.
  • Assisting in end-to-end multimedia production, including creative concept development, storyboarding, filming, and video editing.
  • Designing high-quality visual assets for digital and print communications, such as posters and reports.
  • Creating platform-adapted digital content for the UN in China’s website and social media accounts.
  • Providing multimedia production support for key events, including photography and video documentation.
  • Collaborating with team members to ensure the quality and impact of communications outputs.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in communications, media, design, or a related field. Candidates must have at least two years of experience in communications, media production, graphic design, or related fields. Demonstrated experience in managing social media platforms and producing original digital content is essential. Strong experience in video production, including filming and editing, as well as graphic design, is required. Experience supporting campaigns or communications for international organizations or SDG-related initiatives is considered an advantage.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in communications, media, design, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the principles of effective communication and multimedia production, which are critical for the role.

Experience:
The UN Multimedia Assistant should have a minimum of two years of relevant experience in communications, media production, graphic design, or related fields. This experience should include managing social media platforms and producing original digital content, as well as strong skills in video production and graphic design. Experience in supporting campaigns or communications for international organizations or initiatives related to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English and Chinese is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of an additional UN language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment.
