Job Overview:
The Data Visualization and Database Management Intern will play a crucial role in supporting the Division of Healthcare Management and Occupational Safety and Health (DHMOSH) by assisting in the development of health-related projects. The intern will be responsible for creating Power BI reports and other data visualization outputs to analyze health-related data. This position requires a proactive approach to monitoring health policy developments relevant to DHMOSH and assisting in the preparation of official documents, ensuring accuracy in grammar, content, and formatting. The intern will also conduct research on medical and psychosocial policies and assist in drafting and editing content for various media formats. Additionally, the intern will help organize special events and meetings, contributing to the overall mission of the DHMOSH.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's duties and responsibilities include:
  • Assisting in the development of health-related projects for DHMOSH.
  • Creating Power BI reports and other data visualization reports to present health-related data effectively.
  • Monitoring and analyzing the latest health policy developments relevant to DHMOSH.
  • Preparing official documents, ensuring high standards of grammar, content, and formatting.
  • Conducting thorough research on medical and psychosocial policies, including internet searches.
  • Assisting in the reporting, drafting, and editing of content for print, web, and multimedia formats.
  • Helping organize special events and meetings, ensuring smooth execution.
  • Performing any other duties as assigned by the supervisor, demonstrating flexibility and a willingness to learn.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must demonstrate a commitment to further study or work in a field relevant to DHMOSH. They must meet one of the following criteria: a) Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent or higher); b) Be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (Bachelor's level or equivalent); c) Have graduated with a university degree (secondary or first level). Additionally, applicants should show a keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter. They must also demonstrate the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds and beliefs, showing tolerance and understanding of differing opinions.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes enrollment in a graduate program or being in the final year of a bachelor's degree program. A degree in Public Health, Data Management, or a related field is desirable. The intern should possess skills in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Power BI, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, as well as an orientation in statistical data analytics.

Experience:

However, any relevant training, education, or advanced coursework that can benefit the United Nations during the internship is encouraged. This position is suitable for individuals looking to gain practical experience in a professional setting while contributing to the UN's mission.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of another official United Nations language, such as French, is considered an advantage and may enhance the candidate's application.

Additional Notes:
The internship is available in-person in New York or remotely, with full-time or part-time modalities considered. The expected duration of the internship is between 3 to 6 months, with a desired start date in Fall 202
