Duties and Responsibilities: The Finance and Budget Assistant will undertake a variety of responsibilities including: supporting the review and preparation of medium-term plans and budget proposals; assisting managers in resource requirement elaboration; monitoring expenditures and preparing necessary adjustments; reviewing requisitions for goods and services; preparing budget performance submissions and reports; ensuring the integrity of financial databases; verifying accuracy of input data; coordinating with other finance staff; calculating and validating claims related to contingent personnel and equipment; preparing management information analysis and reports; maintaining up-to-date files; and providing guidance and training to other staff as needed. The role also involves drafting correspondence related to financial matters and ensuring compliance with UN policies and procedures.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. A minimum of seven years of experience in finance, budget, accounting, or administrative services is required, with a reduction to five years for those holding a first-level university degree or higher. Experience in applying financial rules and regulations, as well as proficiency in Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems related to finance and budgeting, is essential. Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Microsoft Teams, is also required.
