Job Overview:
The position of Communications Assistant within the Compliance Advisor Ombudsman (CAO) office is crucial for supporting the communication and outreach efforts that underpin CAO's strategic engagement with both internal and external stakeholders. The successful candidate will play a key role in assisting with the development of content for various digital and social media channels, ensuring that the CAO's messages are effectively communicated. This role involves a variety of tasks including content creation, event logistics support, and database maintenance, all of which are essential for enhancing the visibility and impact of CAO's work. The Communications Assistant will work closely with different teams within CAO to ensure cohesive messaging and effective outreach strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Communications Assistant will be responsible for a wide range of duties including: developing and drafting content for various platforms, creating visual materials such as infographics and brochures related to CAO processes, contributing to internal and external newsletters, posting content on CAO's website and social media channels, coordinating the production of news clippings, providing logistical support for meetings and events, maintaining communications databases and listservs, reorganizing and maintaining CAO's photo library and archives, supporting case data tracking and disclosure activities, and liaising with vendors such as designers and photographers as needed. This diverse set of responsibilities requires a proactive approach and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communications, public affairs, or a related field, along with 3-5 years of relevant experience in communications or a similar role. Excellent writing and editing skills are essential, with the ability to tailor content for both technical and general audiences. Proven experience in website editing and social media management is required, and familiarity with Drupal is considered a plus. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate proficiency in design tools such as Canva and Microsoft Office, along with strong organizational and administrative skills. The ability to multitask and prioritize effectively under tight deadlines is crucial, as is being a collaborative team player who can adapt to changing needs.

Educational Background:
A bachelor’s degree in communications, public affairs, international development, or a related field is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding the complexities of communication within the context of international development and public accountability.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have 3-5 years of relevant experience in communications or a related field. This experience should include a demonstrated ability to create and manage content across various platforms, as well as experience in event coordination and stakeholder engagement. Familiarity with the workings of international organizations or development agencies is advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. While additional language skills are not required, the ability to communicate in other languages is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's suitability for the role.
