The UN Resident Coordinator Offices (RCO) play a crucial role in supporting countries to achieve their development priorities under the leadership of the UN Resident Coordinator, who is the highest-ranking official of the UN Development System at the country level. The UN operates in numerous countries worldwide, with a focus on sustainable development and humanitarian assistance.

Job Overview:
The UN Partnerships Officer will be stationed in the United Nations Resident Coordination Office (RCO) in Togo, reporting to the Senior Development Coordination Officer, Strategic Planning and RCO Team Leader. The role is pivotal in providing strategic support for partnerships aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). The officer will assist in the development and implementation of the UN Partnership Strategy, ensuring alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework. This position requires a proactive approach to engage with various stakeholders, including civil society, the private sector, and other non-traditional partners, to foster collaboration and resource mobilization for sustainable development initiatives. The officer will also contribute to knowledge management and capacity development related to partnerships and resource mobilization at the country level, ensuring that the UN's efforts are effectively coordinated and impactful.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Partnerships Officer will be responsible for a range of duties, including:
  • Assisting with the provision of substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UNCT strategic partnerships with civil society, the private sector, and other stakeholders for SDG achievement. This includes advising on the development and implementation of the UN Partnership Strategy, supporting working groups for effective strategy implementation, and conducting liaison with UN entities.
  • Participating in joint partnership and resource mobilization initiatives, providing support for the management of pooled funds for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, and developing resource mobilization strategies.
  • Working closely with the RCO economist and finance experts to promote partnerships that support financing for the SDGs, preparing briefing papers, and contributing to advocacy and communication efforts.
  • Contributing to knowledge management and capacity development by promoting collaboration, researching best practices, and maintaining a knowledge repository of potential donors.
  • Collecting and analyzing data to identify trends and provide insights for data-driven planning and decision-making.
  • Performing other related tasks as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in strategic support to partnerships, project/programme management, and resource mobilization in the context of development cooperation. Experience in developing strategic partnerships across government, private sector, and civil society organizations is essential. Additionally, candidates should have experience in designing and implementing partnerships, as well as in resource mobilization strategies. Familiarity with inclusion strategies that promote gender equality, youth participation, and the inclusion of persons with disabilities is desirable. Experience in UN interagency coordination and in preparing project/programme proposals is also required.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, sustainable development, social sciences, education, or a related area is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Successful completion of degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is an advantage.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in strategic support to partnerships, project/programme management, and resource mobilization. Candidates should have a proven track record in developing strategic partnerships and implementing resource mobilization strategies. Experience in UN interagency coordination and familiarity with financing for the SDGs is also beneficial. Additionally, two or more years of experience in data analytics or a related area is desirable.

Languages:
The working languages of the United Nations Secretariat are English and French. For this position, proficiency in both languages is required, with a minimum level of proficiency specified according to the UN Language Framework. Candidates must demonstrate their ability to read, write, listen, and speak in both languages at the required levels.

Additional Notes:
This is a Fixed Term position available for a duration of one year, with no expectation of renewal. The position is open to nationals of Togo only, and candidates must be recruited within the country or within commuting distance of the office. If no suitable local candidate is identified, Togo nationals residing elsewhere may be considered, but they will be responsible for any relocation costs.
