Job Overview:
The Institutional Funding Trainee position at Humanity & Inclusion is designed for motivated students eager to delve into the humanitarian sector. This role is situated within the Institutional Funding North Europe team (FINE) at the Brussels office. The primary focus of this team is to mobilize funding from a diverse range of institutional partners, including various EU bodies and Nordic and Benelux countries. As a trainee, you will work closely with the Head of FINE and collaborate with other team members, gaining hands-on experience in donor management, programmatic analysis, and communication. The internship aims to enhance your understanding of international cooperation, humanitarian action, and the operational dynamics of an international non-governmental organization (INGO) in a multicultural setting. Throughout the traineeship, you will engage in various tasks, receive constructive feedback, and develop essential skills in communication, organization, and analysis.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an Institutional Funding Trainee, your responsibilities will encompass several key tasks: 1) Support to donor management, which includes assisting with contract implementation, monitoring compliance with donor rules, and following up on reporting requirements. You will also track funding opportunities and contribute to lessons learned exercises. 2) Support to programmatic analysis, where you will conduct analyses on localization trends affecting North Europe and EU donors, map relevant topics and actors related to Handicap International, and compare EU calls with HI’s sectors. 3) Management of information and communication materials, which involves ensuring the harmonization of donor information on the internal network, updating the CRM tool, and creating internal reference documents. 4) Support in building training materials and webinars, including reviewing training content and contributing to webinar preparations. This role will require you to be detail-oriented, self-organized, and proactive in your approach to tasks.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the Institutional Funding Trainee position, candidates must be currently enrolled in a Master’s program in international cooperation, humanitarian affairs, social sciences, or a related field. Prior experience volunteering with international organizations is essential, as is proficiency in Microsoft Office and communication tools. Candidates should possess excellent summarizing, analytical, and writing skills, and demonstrate a dynamic, self-organized, and detail-oriented work ethic. Comfort in a multicultural environment and a genuine interest in humanitarian work and the mission of Humanity & Inclusion are also critical.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be pursuing a Master’s degree in fields relevant to international cooperation, humanitarian affairs, or social sciences. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of the humanitarian sector and the operational frameworks of international organizations.

Experience:
The position requires some prior experience, particularly in volunteering with international organizations that involve multiple stakeholders. This experience is vital for understanding the collaborative nature of humanitarian work and the dynamics of institutional funding.

Languages:
Fluency in English and French, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this role. Additionally, fluency in Dutch is desirable, and knowledge of Spanish would be considered an advantage.
