Job Overview: The Fundraisingintern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern will be part of the Private Sector Partnerships (PSP) Services team based in Brussels, Belgium. This internship offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in communication, fundraising, and campaigns within UNHCR’s Private Sector Partnerships team. The intern will support the fundraising efforts in Belgium, contributing to the acquisition and retention of donors while enhancing UNHCR's brand equity and coherence in the region. The selected candidate will engage in various tasks that will provide valuable insights into the workings of a global organization dedicated to humanitarian efforts, particularly in the context of refugee support and advocacy.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a range of duties including: providing day-to-day support on social media by drafting social media copy and monitoring performance; gathering and tailoring compelling UNHCR content for Belgian audiences across various channels such as email, social media, and the website; creating engaging thematic content through copywriting, video editing, and using Photoshop; researching the latest statistics, messaging, and refugee stories to inform communication strategies; adapting fundraising campaigns and communications specifically for Belgium, including translation tasks; collaborating with the team to develop or optimize emails and website articles to exceed key performance indicators (KPIs); supporting the development, translation, implementation, and updating of online donor journeys or other digital projects; providing ad hoc support to communications and fundraising activities, including assistance to the Netherlands team and Private Partnerships and Philanthropy (PPH); and performing any other duties as required by the team.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must meet several essential qualifications, including being a recent graduate or current student in a graduate or undergraduate program at a university accredited by UNESCO in a relevant field such as Communication, International Relations, Marketing, Media, or Journalism. They should have completed at least two years of undergraduate studies in a related field. Strong communication skills are essential, with fluency in French being mandatory and advanced writing and editing skills in English required. Knowledge of Dutch is highly desirable, and candidates who speak Dutch will be given favorable consideration. Familiarity with digital media, content management systems, and web-based applications is necessary, along with knowledge of Photoshop and Adobe Premiere being considered an asset. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a genuine desire to learn, possess good interpersonal skills, and be a team player.
