Job Overview: The Data Analyst position at the World Bank involves supporting the Budget Solutions unit, which is responsible for leading the organization's budget systems, data, reporting, and technology-enabled solutions. The role requires the analyst to work closely with business stakeholders and technical teams to identify data needs and reporting gaps, ultimately enhancing budget analytics and client service delivery. The analyst will be tasked with extracting, cleaning, validating, and organizing both structured and unstructured datasets from various World Bank systems, ensuring that the data is accurate, complete, and timely. Additionally, the analyst will conduct exploratory data analysis and prepare visualizations, dashboards, and reports using tools such as Power BI, Tableau, SQL, Python, or R. The position also involves contributing to the development and documentation of predictive models and AI-enabled solutions, as well as maintaining and updating standard reports and dashboards. The analyst will assist with user testing and knowledge sharing to help business users interpret reports and apply data insights effectively in their decision-making processes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Data Analyst will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including:
Supporting business stakeholders and technical teams in identifying data needs and reporting gaps.
Extracting, cleaning, validating, and organizing datasets from relevant World Bank systems.
Conducting exploratory data analysis and preparing visualizations, dashboards, and reports.
Contributing to the development, testing, and documentation of predictive models and reporting tools.
Maintaining and updating standard reports and dashboards, ensuring data quality and timely delivery.
Assisting with user testing and documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing among business users.
Escalating data quality issues and supporting routine validation and troubleshooting of datasets and reports.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in fields such as information systems, data science, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, finance, or business analytics. Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in data analysis or a related area. Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (Python or R) is required, along with practical experience in preparing datasets and supporting analytical products. A good understanding of statistical analysis, data modeling, and data visualization is essential, as well as experience using tools like Power BI or Tableau to create reports and dashboards. Strong attention to detail, problem-solving skills, and the ability to communicate technical findings to non-technical audiences are also necessary.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in information systems, data science, computer science, statistics, applied mathematics, finance, business analytics, or a related field. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of data analysis and the technical skills needed for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in data analysis or a related field.
