Job Overview:
The Repatriation Associate plays a crucial role in the implementation of the voluntary repatriation program, ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with established standard operating procedures. The Repatriation Associate will work closely with various stakeholders, including refugees, local communities, and UNHCR colleagues, to facilitate effective communication and support throughout the repatriation process. The role involves gathering and analyzing data related to return movements, assessing the needs of vulnerable returnees, and providing logistical and administrative support for border-crossing operations. The Repatriation Associate is expected to maintain a high level of professionalism and integrity while adhering to UNHCR's core values and accountability frameworks.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Repatriation Associate will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: interviewing candidates for voluntary repatriation to ensure informed decision-making; preparing necessary documentation for refugees; facilitating communication between UNHCR and communities of concern; participating in mass information campaigns to educate stakeholders about the repatriation program; providing logistical support for return movements; monitoring the implementation of repatriation operations through field visits; gathering and entering data related to return movements; assessing the needs of vulnerable returnees; advising senior colleagues on registration processes; drafting reports on repatriation activities; and identifying and managing risks associated with repatriation objectives. The Repatriation Associate must also perform other related duties as required by supervisors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Repatriation Associate position must possess a minimum of three years of relevant experience with a High School Diploma, or two years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s degree or higher. Essential qualifications include demonstrated knowledge of UNHCR refugee protection standards, procedures for refugee repatriation, and policies regarding durable solutions for refugees. Desirable qualifications include completion of UNHCR-specific training activities and field experience with UNHCR operations. Candidates should also have functional skills in IT and computer literacy, as well as a strong understanding of refugee protection principles and frameworks.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a High School Diploma as a minimum, with a Bachelor’s degree in law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">International Law, International Relations, Political Science, or a related field being preferred. Relevant certifications and licenses in these areas are considered essential for the role.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a minimum of three years of relevant experience in a related field, with a preference for those who have experience working with UNHCR or similar organizations. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of refugee protection standards and the principles of voluntary repatriation, as well as experience in data analysis and field operations.

Languages:
Knowledge of English is mandatory, and proficiency in the UN working language of the duty station is required if it is not English. For General Service jobs, knowledge of English and/or the UN working language of the duty station is necessary, along with any relevant local languages being advantageous.
