Job Overview:
The UN Partnerships Officer will be responsible for providing substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UN Country Team (UNCT) strategic partnerships aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This role involves guiding the development and implementation of the UN Partnership Strategy, coordinating with various UN entities, and engaging with external stakeholders to foster partnerships that align with the UN's objectives. The officer will also be tasked with advising the Resident Coordinator and UNCT on risks and opportunities related to partnerships, conducting due diligence on potential investment opportunities, and developing locally tailored partnerships. Additionally, the officer will support resource mobilization efforts for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework, ensuring that funding strategies are effectively implemented and monitored. The position requires a strong understanding of development finance and the ability to navigate complex environments to promote partnerships that drive sustainable development.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Provide substantive support for strategic planning and coordination of UNCT strategic partnerships for SDG achievement, including guidance on the UN Partnership Strategy and its implementation.
• Conduct liaison and coordination with UN entities at various levels to define value propositions for local partnerships.
• Serve as a point of contact for external stakeholders seeking to partner with the UNCT.
• Advise the Resident Coordinator and UNCT on risks and opportunities related to partnerships, suggesting mitigation measures as necessary.
• Analyze and provide recommendations on due diligence processes for potential investment opportunities.
• Develop and implement resource mobilization strategies for the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Framework.
• Monitor and enhance existing resource mobilization partnerships, including traditional and non-traditional partners.
• Coordinate the preparation of funding frameworks and joint programs for resource mobilization.
• Conduct knowledge management and capacity development activities related to partnerships and resource mobilization. 1
• Promote collaboration and share best practices within the UN system and with external partners.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in providing strategic support to partnerships, project/programme management, resource mobilization, or development finance in the context of development and humanitarian cooperation. Relevant experience in a conflict or mission setting is required, along with proven expertise in UN/IFI strategic partnerships. Experience working with HQ and regional organizations is desirable, as is experience in data analytics or related fields. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to work in complex environments, and a commitment to sustainable development principles.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business or public administration, sustainable development, social sciences, education, or a related area is required. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Successful completion of degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is an advantage.

Experience:
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in relevant fields is required. Candidates should have experience in providing strategic support to partnerships, project/programme management, resource mobilization, or development finance, particularly in development and humanitarian contexts. Relevant experience in conflict settings is essential, and familiarity with UN operations and strategic partnerships is highly desirable. Experience in data analytics or related areas for at least two years is also preferred.

Languages:
English is required for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is considered a good to have language, but not mandatory. Proficiency in additional languages may enhance a candidate's application, particularly in a diverse working environment like the UN.
