Job Overview:
The Driver position is crucial for the effective operation of the STRIDES activity in South Sudan, which is part of the United States Government’s global health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security response. The primary function of this role is to ensure safe, reliable, and timely transportation for staff, consultants, and official visitors. The Driver will be responsible for the care and maintenance of the vehicle, ensuring it is clean and in good working order, and will also assist with the transport of program supplies and equipment. This role requires adherence to safety and security protocols, as well as compliance with local traffic laws. The Driver will also be expected to support occasional travel to decentralized project sites, which may involve navigating unpaved or remote roads. Overall, the Driver plays a vital role in facilitating the smooth operation of the STRIDES program by providing essential transportation services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for transporting Country Office staff, consultants, and official visitors to various destinations, including meetings, program sites, and the airport. Key responsibilities include ensuring the safety, cleanliness, and security of the vehicle, performing routine maintenance such as oil changes and inspections, and monitoring fuel and fluid levels. The Driver must maintain accurate records of mileage, fuel usage, and trips taken, and ensure that all vehicle documentation is current and compliant with FHI 360 and local regulations. Additionally, the Driver will plan routes based on schedules or ad-hoc requests, assist with the transport of program supplies and equipment, and fulfill special requests as needed. The role may also involve providing protection for clients in high-risk locations and performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a High School Diploma or GED equivalent. A valid driving license, a clean driving record, and a trade test certificate are mandatory. The ideal candidate will have 1-3 years of related driving experience, particularly in operating large vehicles. Familiarity with driving conditions in Juba and on unpaved or remote roads in South Sudan is advantageous. The ability to communicate effectively in English is also required, as it is essential for following safety protocols and interacting with passengers.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a High School Diploma or GED. This foundational education is necessary to ensure that the candidate has the basic literacy and numeracy skills required for maintaining vehicle logs and understanding safety regulations.

Experience:
The position requires 1-3 years of relevant driving experience. Candidates should have experience operating large vehicles and must demonstrate a strong understanding of vehicle maintenance and safety protocols. Experience in navigating the specific driving conditions of South Sudan, particularly in Juba and surrounding areas, is highly desirable.

Languages:
English is the mandatory language for this position, as effective communication is crucial for ensuring safety and compliance with protocols. Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and is based in Juba, South Sudan. The expected hiring salary range for this role is between USD 5,400 and 7,000 annually, which includes basic salary and allowances.
