Job Overview: The intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern will play a vital role in supporting the communication efforts of the ECA Office for North Africa, located in Rabat, Morocco. This internship is designed to provide hands-on experience in media relations, event coverage, and communication strategy implementation. The intern will work under the direct supervision of the Communication Officer and will be involved in various tasks that contribute to the office's mission of promoting sustainable development and inclusive growth in the region. The intern will assist in preparing for events, monitoring media coverage, drafting reports, and creating visual content for social media. This position is ideal for individuals looking to gain experience in international development and communications within a reputable organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The selected intern will be responsible for a range of tasks that include:
Participating in media and communication preparations for events organized by the ECA sub-regional office for North Africa.
Assisting in monitoring local and international media reports related to ECA events and drafting coverage reports.
Contributing to the coverage of ECA events by taking notes for communication purposes and drafting press releases and social media content.
Assisting in the design of visuals such as posters and postcards, as well as video and social media content.
Handling media inquiries, including interview requests, and providing timely responses.
Assisting with the translation of media content when necessary.
Supporting the Communication Officer with other ad-hoc activities as instructed, ensuring that all tasks align with the overall communication strategy of the ECA.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this internship, candidates must meet the following requirements: (a) Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent). A good knowledge of the North African culture and socio-economic context is considered an advantage. Internships do not require prior work experience, making this an excellent opportunity for students and recent graduates to gain practical experience in the field.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a strong educational background, specifically being enrolled in a graduate program or in the final year of an undergraduate program. This educational requirement ensures that interns possess the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to the ECA's communication efforts.
Experience: While prior work experience is not a requirement for this internship, candidates should demonstrate a keen interest in communications, media relations, and international development. This internship is particularly suited for individuals who are eager to learn and gain practical experience in a professional setting.
Languages: Fluency in French is required for the internship, as it is one of the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Additionally, knowledge of English and Arabic is desirable, which would enhance the intern's ability to communicate effectively in a multilingual environment.
Additional Notes: This internship is designed to last for a duration of three months and is primarily in-person at the ECA Office for North Africa in Rabat, Morocco. However, there is flexibility for remote or partly remote work based on the supervisor's approval. It is important to note that interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, and all costs related to travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions.
