Job Overview: The Product Manager position at the World Bank is a pivotal role within the Information and Technology Solutions (ITS) Vice Presidential Unit. This role is designed for an individual who is passionate about artificial intelligence (AI) innovation and is committed to maximizing business value through effective product design and lifecycle management. The Product Manager will lead the rapid development and deployment of tailored AI solutions for World Bank Group (WBG) Country and Regional teams. This involves collaborating closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities, shape demand, and ensure that the technology portfolio aligns with organizational priorities. The position requires a strong understanding of modern AI capabilities and the ability to translate complex business objectives into clear product requirements. The successful candidate will also be responsible for fostering strategic relationships, leading cross-functional initiatives, and ensuring that AI solutions are rapidly prototyped and validated for effectiveness.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Product Manager will engage proactively with Country and Regional teams to understand their needs and define goals for AI solutions. They will lead strategic relationships, identifying trends and use cases that inform potential solutions. The role includes defining a clear product vision and roadmap, ensuring alignment across the Agile Release Train, and designing governance structures for AI delivery. The Product Manager will facilitate continuous communication with stakeholders, oversee vendor relationships, and monitor product-level financials to ensure budget adherence. They will also lead complex initiatives, integrating contributions from various teams to drive rapid ideation and rollout, while identifying systemic challenges and opportunities for AI solutions across the WBG.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree with at least 8 years of relevant experience, or a Bachelor’s degree in STEM fields with a minimum of 10 years of experience. Demonstrated expertise in AI, including a strong understanding of modern AI capabilities and responsible AI principles, is essential. The ideal candidate should have a passion for innovation, the ability to adapt to shifting priorities, and a high degree of ownership and accountability. Exceptional skills in translating business objectives into product requirements and synthesizing stakeholder input are also required. Experience in collaborating across multidisciplinary teams and strong interpersonal skills are crucial for success in this role.
Educational Background: A Master’s degree in a relevant field is preferred, although a Bachelor’s degree in STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) is acceptable with sufficient experience. Candidates should have a strong academic background that supports their understanding of AI and technology solutions.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 8 years of experience for candidates with a Master’s degree, or 10 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience should include a demonstrated expertise in AI, product management, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
