Job Overview:
The position of Experienced Industrial Electrical Technician within CERN's Engineering department (EN) is crucial for the operation and maintenance of the electrical distribution network, which spans from 400 kV to 400/230 V. The Electrical Engineering (EL) group is tasked with managing this network, ensuring its reliability and safety, and overseeing the cabling infrastructure. The technician will be part of the Maintenance and Operation (EN-EL-MO) section, focusing on the operation and maintenance of CERN's electrical network, commissioning new installations, and executing small-scale electrical works. The role requires a proactive approach to support the development and consolidation of CERN's electrical transmission and distribution systems, which are vital for the functioning of one of the world's largest particle colliders. The technician will be expected to apply their expertise in a multidisciplinary environment, collaborating with various stakeholders to ensure the smooth operation of electrical systems.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an Experienced Industrial Electrical Technician, your responsibilities will include operating and maintaining CERN's high- and low-voltage electrical network. This involves performing lockouts, switching electrical equipment on and off, and reconfiguring the network as necessary. You will troubleshoot and repair electrical issues, document interventions, and contribute to the preparation of technical reports. Regular inspections will be part of your duties to ensure the reliability and safety of the electrical network. You will act as the primary contact for users connected to the electrical network in your assigned area, supervising preventive and corrective maintenance activities as well as electrical works. Additionally, you will contribute to electrical projects executed by the group, participating in project meetings, assisting in defining technical solutions, preparing and executing tests and commissioning activities, and performing acceptance tests on high- and low-voltage installations. Maintaining accurate records of maintenance and operational activities will also be a key part of your role, ensuring that all work performed, issues encountered, and corrective actions taken are documented appropriately.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a technical certificate or general secondary education, or equivalent relevant experience in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A good knowledge of high- and low-voltage electrical distribution systems and associated equipment is essential. Proven experience in the operation and maintenance of electrical installations, including troubleshooting, fault diagnosis, repairs, and commissioning activities, is required. The ability to work autonomously while coordinating activities with users, contractors, and technical specialists in a multidisciplinary environment is crucial. Familiarity with a Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS) for recording maintenance and operational activities is also necessary, along with experience in reading, updating, and managing electrical drawings, technical documentation, and as-built records.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a technical certificate or general secondary education in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Candidates with equivalent relevant experience will also be considered. Additional Notes:
This position is offered as a limited duration contract for 5 years, with the possibility of applying for an indefinite position subject to certain conditions. The working hours are set at 40 hours per week, and the role is fully onsite. The position requires participation in regular stand-by duty, which may include nights, Sundays, and official holidays. Candidates should be prepared to work in radiation areas and underground installations, and a valid driving license is required. Due to the occupational health risks associated with this position, selected candidates must obtain medical clearance before a contract offer is confirmed.
