Job Overview: The IT Support Officer will join the COE section (Communication, Outreach and Education) within the Department Infrastructure group (IT-DI) at CERN. This role is crucial in enhancing the visibility and accessibility of CERN's resources to the scientific community, students, trainees, and the general public. The officer will be involved in restructuring the CERN IT website, supporting the migration to WordPress, and designing an improved information architecture to enhance usability for various audiences. Additionally, the officer will assist in organizing events such as conferences and CERN Open Days, streamlining processes, and building new departmental infrastructure to maintain resources for inductions and events. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to the communication and outreach efforts of the world's largest physics laboratory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Participate in the activities of the IT-DI-COE section focusing on Education, Communication, and Outreach.
Assist in the restructuring of the CERN IT website, including supporting the completion of its WordPress migration.
Design a new information architecture to improve searchability and usability for diverse audiences.
Support event organization, including back-office tasks for conferences, project events, and CERN Open Days.
Streamline and improve existing processes related to event management.
Help build new departmental infrastructure by leveraging existing CERN repositories to organize and maintain resources for inductions, visits, and events.
Collaborate with team members and stakeholders to ensure effective communication and project execution.
Familiarity with tools like Google Workspace, Office, or equivalent.
Experience with design tools such as Linearity, Canva, or equivalent.
Experience in scientific, research, innovation, or technology environments is an asset.
Ability to quickly learn and utilize modern technologies to support colleagues effectively.
Basic knowledge of web technologies (HTML, CSS) is a plus.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with a commitment to learning French.
Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Team player with the initiative to take on tasks independently.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business, Communication, Computing, or a related field. Applicants without a university degree are not eligible, and those with a PhD are also not eligible for this position.
Experience: Candidates should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation. This experience should be relevant to the fields of Business, Communication, or Computing, aligning with the responsibilities of the IT Support Officer role.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English is mandatory. A commitment to learning French is also required, as it will enhance communication within the organization and with the local community.
Additional Notes: The position is a full-time role with a contract duration of 24 months, with the possibility of extension up to a maximum of 36 months. The working hours are set at 40 hours per week, with hybrid job flexibility. The role may require work during nights, Sundays, and official holidays as needed by the organization.
