Job Overview:
The position of Coordinateur/Coordinatrice Régionale en Pastoralisme et Préparation involves overseeing and coordinating ACF's pastoralism and preparedness programs in the region. The role requires a deep understanding of pastoralist communities and their challenges, particularly in the context of climate change and food security. The coordinator will be responsible for developing strategies to enhance the resilience of pastoral communities, ensuring that they have the necessary resources and support to thrive. This includes working closely with local stakeholders, government agencies, and other NGOs to implement effective programs that address the needs of these communities. The coordinator will also be expected to monitor and evaluate the impact of the programs, making adjustments as necessary to ensure their effectiveness.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement regional strategies for pastoralism and preparedness programs in alignment with ACF's mission and objectives.
  • Coordinate with local partners, government bodies, and other stakeholders to ensure effective program delivery.
  • Conduct assessments to identify the needs and challenges faced by pastoral communities in the region.
  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, providing regular reports and recommendations for improvement.
  • Facilitate training and capacity-building workshops for local partners and community members.
  • Advocate for the rights and needs of pastoral communities at local, national, and international levels.
  • Ensure compliance with ACF's policies and procedures, including financial management and reporting.
  • Represent ACF in relevant meetings, conferences, and forums related to pastoralism and food security.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a multicultural environment. A deep understanding of pastoralism and food security issues is essential, along with experience in program management and implementation. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies is required, as well as the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions. Candidates should also demonstrate a commitment to ACF's values and mission, with a passion for humanitarian work and community development.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, development studies, agriculture, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's competitiveness for the position. Additional training or certifications in project management, monitoring and evaluation, or humanitarian response would be advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in program management, particularly in the fields of pastoralism, food security, or related areas. Experience working in humanitarian contexts, especially in Africa, is highly desirable. Proven track record of successfully managing projects and leading teams is essential, along with experience in capacity building and stakeholder engagement.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication in Senegal. Proficiency in English is highly desirable, as it may be necessary for reporting and collaboration with international partners. Knowledge of local languages spoken in pastoral communities would be an asset.

Additional Notes:
This position is full-time and may require travel within the region. The contract duration is typically for one year, with the possibility of extension based on funding and performance.
