Job Overview:
The UN intern" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Communications Intern will be part of the Team for Pact Implementation within the Executive Office of the Secretary-General. This internship is designed to support the implementation of the Pact for the Future, a comprehensive agreement aimed at enhancing international cooperation and making the multilateral system more effective and inclusive. The intern will work closely with the Outreach and Communications Officer to assist in the development of communication strategies and public-facing products that effectively convey the progress of the Pact's implementation. The role involves a variety of tasks, including digital content production, social media management, and data storytelling, all aimed at making complex information accessible and engaging for a broad audience.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern's responsibilities will include supporting video and multimedia production, such as editing clips from events and senior officials’ remarks, preparing LinkedIn video cuts, creating motion graphics or animations, and developing visual explainers. The intern will also assist in social media production by drafting posts, preparing posting packages, and adapting event outcomes into accessible digital content. Additionally, the intern will support newsletter production by drafting sections, summarizing reports, and collecting relevant materials. Other duties include data storytelling, research and monitoring of references to the Pact, preparation of PowerPoint presentations, and organization of communications assets. The intern may also perform other related duties as required to support the overall goals of the Team for Pact Implementation.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (Master's degree or higher) or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor’s degree). A field of study in communications, journalism, digital media, international relations, public policy, sustainable development, political science, data visualization, or a related field is desirable. Knowledge of standard software applications, especially Microsoft Office Suite, and experience in creating visual communications products are also desirable. Familiarity with design or multimedia tools and data visualization platforms is beneficial, as is the ability to draft clear and concise public-facing communications products.

Educational Background:
Candidates should have a background in communications, journalism, digital media, international relations, public policy, sustainable development, political science, data visualization, or a related field. A graduate degree or a final year of undergraduate study is required, indicating a strong foundation in relevant academic disciplines that will support the intern's work in communications and outreach.

Experience:
While specific professional experience is not mandated, familiarity with communications practices, digital media production, and an understanding of the United Nations system and its operations will be advantageous. Interns should demonstrate a capacity for research and monitoring policy developments related to global governance and sustainable development, as well as an ability to engage with various stakeholders effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship. Knowledge of French is also beneficial, as both languages are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Proficiency in additional languages may enhance the candidate's profile but is not mandatory.
