Job Overview: The Analyst position within the EBRD’s Advice for Small Businesses Programme is crucial for the successful initiation, structuring, execution, implementation, monitoring, and completion of advisory projects and non-project activities, particularly those related to Non-Financial Services (NFS). The Analyst will be responsible for various tasks assigned by the Principal Specialist – NFS/BR, which may include designing, coordinating, executing, monitoring, and reporting on non-financial services business development for a compliant project pipeline. This role requires collaboration with regional networks and sector counterparts to identify the business needs of partner banks and develop the scope of advisory projects focusing on priority areas. The Analyst will also identify suitable consultants or experts for assignments and will work closely with the wider SME Finance & Development team, ensuring that all activities align with the strategic priorities of the Bank.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Analyst will be accountable for delivering instruments and NFS activities under the Advice for Small Businesses Programme, ensuring alignment with the Bank’s policies and procedures, donor requirements, and compliance standards. Key responsibilities include:
Structuring and executing advisory activities in collaboration with the regional network, including origination, conception, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of NFS-related advisory activities.
Preparing and reviewing project documents, assessments, implementation plans, terms of reference, procurement inputs, and reporting materials.
Analyzing partner financial institutions' growth prospects in NFS to structure impactful advisory support for SMEs.
Contributing to business development by generating a pipeline of high-quality advisory activities in priority areas such as digital, green, inclusion, and innovation.
Supporting the monitoring of NFS implementation, tracking key performance indicators, and preparing inputs for management and donor reporting.
Ensuring synergy between advisory and banking activities, contributing to regular diagnostics and portfolio assessments, and generating ideas for follow-up support and new initiatives.
Assisting in the development of internal and external reports, including donor-related reports, and coordinating marketing and visibility activities to promote NFS activities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Finance, or a related field, or equivalent work experience. They should demonstrate strong business and financial analytical skills, with the ability to interpret accounts and conduct analysis" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">financial analysis. Effective project management and organizational skills are essential, along with strong problem-solving abilities and creative thinking. Candidates must have effective communication, coordination, presentation, and negotiation skills, as well as the ability to manage relationships with SME clients, partner financial institutions, and other stakeholders. Strong writing skills are required, with experience in writing advisory project proposals or reports being advantageous. Fluency in English, both written and verbal, is mandatory, and fluency in the local language of the country of operations is essential. Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint, is also required.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business, Economics, or Finance. Candidates with equivalent work experience in related areas may also be considered. A strong foundation in business and financial principles is crucial for success in this role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant professional experience, preferably gained in commercial management consultancy, development institutions, or financial institutions such as banks. Candidates should have a solid understanding of financial institutions and the SME financing ecosystem, including the challenges related to SME access to finance and non-financial support services. Experience in at least one of EBRD’s strategic SME priority areas, such as green economy, economic inclusion, sustainable supply chains, or digitalization, is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, both written and verbal. Additionally, fluency in the local language of the country of operations is essential for effective communication and stakeholder engagement. Knowledge of other languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
Additional Notes: This position is a short-term contract with a duration of 12 months. The role is based in London, United Kingdom, and may require travel within the country and internationally.
