Job Overview: The Principal, Position Management role is a critical position within the Finance – Strategy, Planning and Control department, specifically part of the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) team. This role is responsible for the comprehensive governance of position data for over 5,000 positions within the organization. The Principal will oversee the entire lifecycle of position management processes, ensuring that they align with both Human Resources (HR) and FP&A requirements, as well as the International Mobility frameworks. The position requires a strategic approach to managing position data, ensuring that all changes are accurately reflected in the systems and that continuous improvements are implemented. The Principal will also be tasked with advising senior management on complex position-related changes and ensuring compliance with organizational policies.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Principal, Position Management will lead the governance of position management processes, ensuring that accurate position data is maintained to support HR and FP&A needs. Responsibilities include enforcing adherence to the Joiner, Mover, Leaver (JML) process, advising on position data standards, and providing assurance to senior management regarding the optimization of position data for HR organizational design and operational workforce planning. The Principal will resolve non-routine data challenges, partner with FP&A and HR to audit position data, monitor compliance across the organization, and ensure that systems are configured correctly to deliver accurate data. The role may also involve additional relevant duties as required by business needs.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a deep understanding of position management workflows, particularly within an international banking environment. They should demonstrate proficiency in Operational Workforce Planning principles and how position data impacts staff cost modeling and organizational structures. The role requires proven senior stakeholder management skills, with the ability to provide firm advice and maintain process discipline under pressure. Technical proficiency with enterprise-level HR and Financial Planning systems is essential, along with the ability to audit complex data hierarchies for accuracy. Ownership of an end-to-end operational process is preferred, and candidates should have a degree in Business, Finance, or HR, or equivalent substantial experience in a Data Governance or Workforce Planning role.
Educational Background: A degree in Business, Finance, or Human Resources is required for this position. Alternatively, substantial experience in a related field such as Data Governance or Workforce Planning may be considered in lieu of formal education. Candidates should have a strong foundation in financial principles and organizational management to effectively perform the duties of this role.
