Job Overview: The Electromechanical Technician position at CERN involves working on the development of High Temperature Superconducting (HTS) cables and coils. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Electromechanical Technician include performing quality control (QC) and measurements on REBCO tapes, participating in the qualification of the mechanical properties of these tapes, making diagrams, wiring, PLC programming, and commissioning of electro-mechanical systems. The technician will also support activities related to the integration and use of REBCO tapes in HTS coils and cables, ensuring that all tasks are completed to the highest standards. Additionally, the role may involve troubleshooting and maintaining equipment, collaborating with engineers and other technicians, and contributing to the overall success of projects related to HTS technology.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have experience in electrical testing or material testing, as well as the ability to read and draw circuit diagrams. Experience in the cabling and commissioning of electrical cabinets or machines is considered an advantage, as is experience in mechanical assembly. Knowledge in instrumentation and data acquisition is also beneficial. The ideal candidate should be reliable, autonomous, and able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in spoken and written English or French is required, along with a commitment to learn the other language.
Educational Background: The minimum educational requirement for this position is a general secondary education diploma. Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or a related field. It is important to note that applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree are not eligible for this position.
