Job Overview: The Finance Associate position at WFP is crucial for coordinating and providing finance, budget, and administrationsupport services. Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide procedural and technical support to staff in finance and budget areas, ensuring compliance with WFP financial policies, rules, and regulations.
Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies and procedures, and establish proper accounting systems and cash controls.
Monitor daily cash positions to optimize surplus cash usage and maximize investment returns.
Oversee the centralized registry system to ensure timely processing of payments to internal staff and external suppliers.
Contribute to budget preparation, implementation, and monitoring, ensuring relevant future funding requirements are met.
Coordinate with other teams to ensure efficient performance of financial and administrative services.
Monitor account balances and process financial transactions accurately to avoid overdrafts.
Analyze general ledger accounts to initiate corrective actions as needed.
Compile data from WFP databases to assist in generating and analyzing monthly financial reports. 1
Allocate tasks to support staff, providing guidance and on-the-job training in financial resource management. 1
Remain on standby and follow emergency preparedness practices to meet immediate service requirements.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have a post-secondary certificate in a related functional area and completion of secondary school education. They should possess strong knowledge of financial policies and procedures, as well as experience in assessing financial health and compliance with local laws. The role requires proficiency in managing financial resources and working with auditors and third-party vendors. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include completion of secondary school education and a post-secondary certificate in a relevant functional area. Experience: The position requires six or more years of progressively responsible work experience in a relevant business stream, with a focus on general administrative work.
