Job Overview:
The Senior Doctor position at WFP is primarily focused on delivering clinical services, which encompass both primary healthcare and emergency medical care, specifically for WFP staff, personnel from other UN agencies, and their eligible dependents. This role is crucial in providing continuous technical and clinical advice to the WFP Clinics Coordinator, ensuring that the establishment, operation, and ongoing improvement of WFP Clinics in Sudan align with professional standards and organizational requirements. The Senior Doctor is expected to maintain high-quality healthcare services, ensuring that all medical practices adhere to ethical standards and are evidence-based. The position also involves significant responsibilities in health promotion and disease prevention initiatives, contributing to the overall wellbeing of staff and their dependents. The role requires a proactive approach to managing clinic operations and ensuring that all medical personnel are adequately supported and trained to deliver effective healthcare services.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Doctor will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: providing clinical consultations for primary and emergency care; conducting medical examinations such as entry, periodic, exit, and driver’s fitness assessments; offering technical advice on patient referrals and case management; contributing to clinical coordination processes through peer reviews and case discussions; providing continuous technical input to support clinic systems and operations, including medical supply chains and procurement planning; ensuring clinics are adequately equipped and stocked; supporting recruitment processes for medical personnel; analyzing clinical and epidemiological data to inform decision-making; promoting health and disease prevention initiatives; ensuring patient confidentiality and compliance with data protection standards; providing clinical inputs for medical evacuations; and liaising with Staff Counsellors for psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support cases. The Senior Doctor will also be expected to conduct periodic visits to clinic locations, including Darfur, to oversee service delivery and ensure adherence to medical standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Doctorate, Master, or equivalent) in Medicine or a related field from a recognized institution. Registration as a General Practitioner in the country of origin is mandatory. An ACLS certificate is required, and additional training or certification in emergency case management is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate specialist expertise in assessing medical health needs and risk assessment, along with excellent clinical knowledge and skills. Strong communication skills, both oral and written, are essential, as well as the ability to manage medical emergencies with limited resources. Candidates should also possess analytical abilities and the capacity to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in Medicine or equivalent studies from a recognized institution. Candidates must be registered as General Practitioners in their country of origin. An ACLS certificate is a prerequisite, and additional certifications in emergency case management, such as PHTLS, are highly desirable. This educational foundation is critical for ensuring that the Senior Doctor can provide high-quality medical care and support within the WFP Clinics.

Experience:
A minimum of five years of progressively responsible professional postgraduate experience relevant to the medical field is required for this position. Experience working in hardship locations under challenging and insecure environments is considered an asset. Candidates should have a proven track record of delivering clinical services and managing medical emergencies, demonstrating their ability to operate effectively in high-pressure situations.

Languages:
Fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory for this position, with a proficiency level of C. This bilingual capability is essential for effective communication with diverse staff and stakeholders within the WFP and other UN agencies. Additional language skills may be considered an advantage but are not mandatory.
