Job Overview:
The Operations Manager at Humanity & Inclusion will report directly to the Sudan director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and play a crucial role in implementing the organization's mandate and strategy in Sudan. This position is vital for ensuring the quality and impact of projects in the region through effective management and oversight. The Operations Manager will oversee a team of project managers, ensuring that operational objectives align with HI's strategic goals. The role requires a proactive approach to managing resources, fostering innovation, and maintaining high standards of project delivery. The Operations Manager will also be responsible for developing and implementing operational strategies, monitoring project performance, and ensuring compliance with HI's policies and standards. This position is particularly important in the context of ongoing humanitarian needs in Sudan, where the organization has been expanding its operations since early 2024.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Operations Manager has five main responsibilities: 1) Management: embody HI's values, serve as a role model, guide the team, encourage innovation, organize team work, manage performance, and develop team skills. 2) Strategy and Steering: contribute to the development and implementation of the operational strategy, monitor progress, and engage with donors and partners. 3) Standards and Expertise: ensure compliance with HI's global frameworks and policies, including quality standards and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security protocols. 4) Operational Implementation: manage and monitor projects, ensure adherence to donor rules, facilitate audits, and implement risk mitigation measures. 5) Emergency Preparedness and Response: lead emergency preparedness actions and reorganize team priorities during emergencies to ensure effective humanitarian responses.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least 5 years of professional experience in operations, field, or project management within challenging humanitarian contexts, particularly in complex and conflict-affected regions. Proven experience in influencing and advocacy initiatives related to disability inclusion is essential, along with experience in donor relations, external relations, fundraising, and strategic positioning. Candidates should demonstrate strong management and communication skills, organizational abilities, and a proactive, autonomous work ethic. Willingness to travel frequently and work in remote, insecure areas is also required.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background is necessary for this position, ideally in fields related to humanitarian aid, international development, or a similar discipline. Advanced degrees may be preferred, but significant relevant experience can also be considered in lieu of formal education.

Experience:
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience in operations or project management, particularly in humanitarian settings. Experience in complex emergencies and conflict zones is crucial, as is a track record of successful project implementation and management in challenging environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in Arabic is considered a strong asset. Knowledge of additional languages may also be beneficial, depending on the context of the projects and the populations served.

Additional Notes:
This position is for a 12-month international contract starting in October 2026, based in Khartoum, Sudan. The contract is renewable upon funding. The role is unaccompanied, with housing provided in a collective guesthouse. Benefits include a competitive salary starting from 2869 € gross per month, per diem of 706 € net per month, hardship allowance of 500 € net per month, 25 days of paid leave per year, and 5 days of rest and recuperation every 8 weeks. The international contract includes social coverage, unemployment insurance for EU nationals, a pension scheme, medical coverage with a 50% employee contribution, and repatriation insurance paid by HI.
