Job Overview:
The Senior Visibility Consultant will be responsible for implementing visibility activities across three key projects aimed at enhancing education and social cohesion in Sudan. These projects include 'Strengthening Sudan’s Response to Hate Speech', 'Better Employability for Sudanese Youth through TVET', and the 'Sudan Transitional Education Plan 2025-2027'. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders, including government institutions, media organizations, and community leaders, to develop and execute communication strategies that promote education, counter hate speech, and improve employability for youth. The role requires a deep understanding of the local context, particularly in Kassala State, and the ability to engage effectively with diverse communities. The consultant will also be tasked with monitoring and evaluating the impact of the visibility campaigns, ensuring that they align with UNESCO's core values and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will perform a variety of tasks, including but not limited to: developing and submitting action plans for countering hate speech and promoting TVET; conducting capacity-building workshops for media professionals; performing pre- and post-assessments of targeted hotspots; coordinating the development of media messages and educational content; engaging with community leaders and stakeholders to promote educational initiatives; organizing visibility events; and preparing comprehensive reports on campaign progress and outcomes. The consultant will also be responsible for creating educational materials, including scripts for drama programs, radio messages, and community engagement activities, all aimed at fostering a culture of peace and enhancing educational opportunities in the region.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, or a closely related field. Relevant professional training in strategic communication, advocacy, media production, community engagement, peacebuilding, or behavior/social change communication is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 10 years of progressively responsible professional experience in communication, advocacy, media, public information, or community engagement, with at least 5 years of experience specifically in Kassala State or Eastern Sudan. Proven experience in designing and implementing communication campaigns related to education, TVET, youth, and social cohesion is essential, along with a strong understanding of the local media landscape and community dynamics.

Educational Background:
A university degree in Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, or a related field is required. Additional training in strategic communication, advocacy, media production, or community engagement would be advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of the educational and social challenges facing Sudan, particularly in the context of the ongoing humanitarian crisis.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 10 years of relevant professional experience, with a strong emphasis on communication and advocacy within the Sudanese context. Candidates should have extensive experience working with media organizations, community leaders, and educational institutions, particularly in Kassala State. Experience in developing and implementing public awareness campaigns, as well as engaging with diverse communities, is crucial for success in this role.

Languages:
Fluency in Arabic (written and spoken) is mandatory, along with a good working knowledge of English. Knowledge of local languages such as Badaweit or Tigre/Tigri would be a significant asset, enhancing the consultant's ability to engage with various communities in Kassala State.

Additional Notes:
This position is a consultant role with a contract duration of 4 months. The consultant will be expected to work on-site in Kassala State and is open to both internal and external candidates.
