Job Overview:
The position of Medium Voltage (MV) Operation & Maintenance Engineer is critical to ensuring a reliable and efficient electricity supply within the UNMISS locations. The engineer will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of Medium Voltage distribution networks, which are essential for the functioning of various UN operations. The role requires a professional quality of work, adherence to safety standards, and a commitment to continuous improvement in network reliability and energy efficiency. The engineer will work under the supervision of the Chief Engineer and will be involved in both preventive and corrective maintenance activities, ensuring that the MV systems operate smoothly and efficiently.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Medium Voltage Operation & Maintenance Engineer include operating and monitoring MV distribution systems, performing switching operations, and ensuring compliance with operational and safety procedures. The engineer will monitor load profiles and voltage levels to maintain network stability, develop maintenance plans, troubleshoot faults, and coordinate testing and inspections of MV equipment. Additionally, the engineer will lead fault investigations, collaborate with various teams for system restorations, participate in the commissioning of new installations, and ensure adherence to electrical safety standards. The role also involves preparing technical reports, maintaining operational logs, and checking the availability of MV components in the warehouse to predict future requirements.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline. They should have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in medium voltage transmission systems. Technical knowledge of MV systems, substations, protection systems, and distribution network equipment is essential. Familiarity with international electrical safety standards is required, and knowledge of SCADA systems and protection relays is considered desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a Diploma in Electrical Engineering or a related field. This foundational education is crucial for understanding the complexities of medium voltage systems and ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of five years of progressively responsible experience in medium voltage transmission systems.
