Job Overview: In this role, you will report directly to the Director of Internal Communications and will be responsible for overseeing the foundation's internal leadership communications portfolio. This includes building systems, strategies, and capabilities that empower leaders across the foundation to communicate effectively with clarity, empathy, and purpose. As a trusted advisor to senior leaders, you will play a crucial role in shaping how leadership communicates, understanding that the manner of communication is as vital as the content itself. You will develop and manage frameworks, tools, channels, and content that enable the Executive Leadership Team and leaders at all levels to engage authentically with employees, particularly during strategic moments, organizational changes, and everyday interactions. Your expertise in leadership communication will be essential in coaching leaders, building credibility, and translating complex organizational issues into clear narratives. Additionally, you will be responsible for managing the foundation's internal communications technology ecosystem, utilizing data and analytics to enhance the effectiveness of leadership communications, and ensuring a cohesive employee experience.
Duties and Responsibilities: Your primary responsibilities will include leading the internal leadership communications practice by developing strategies, content, and programs that empower senior leaders to communicate effectively with employees. You will serve as a strategic advisor to the Executive Leadership Team and other senior leaders, guiding them on communication approaches, message development, audience strategy, and risk management. You will also develop and manage an integrated leadership communications calendar, coordinating executive messaging and high-visibility internal engagements. Writing and editing high-quality communications on behalf of senior leaders will be a key part of your role, including crafting messages, scripts, talking points, and presentations. Furthermore, you will build and manage frameworks and tools for consistent leadership communications, provide coaching to leaders for significant communications moments, and co-lead the strategy and governance of internal communications channels. You will also be responsible for establishing measurement frameworks for internal communications effectiveness and reporting on these metrics to leadership. Collaboration with various departments will be essential to ensure alignment in messaging and communications strategies, and you may need to travel domestically and internationally up to 20%.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in communications, public relations, journalism, business administration, organizational development, or a related field. Additionally, a minimum of 10 years of direct experience in internal or employee communications is required, with a significant focus on senior leadership communications within a complex, global organization. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated the ability to develop and execute leadership communications strategies that foster trust and engagement among diverse employee audiences. Strong writing and editing skills are essential, along with experience advising executives for high-visibility communications moments. Expertise in internal communications platforms, particularly SharePoint and Viva Engage, is necessary, as well as a strong command of data and analytics related to internal communications.
