Job Overview:
As the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Deputy Director for High Impact Countries, you will lead a team focused on implementing the foundation's strategies to enhance routine immunization systems, reach underserved communities, and boost immunization coverage in priority countries such as Nigeria, Ethiopia, Pakistan, and India. This role involves close collaboration with various program strategy teams within the Gates Foundation to ensure effective management of resources and alignment with broader health and development goals. The Deputy Director will play a crucial role in shaping the strategic vision of the Immunization Program Strategy Team, setting goals, and leading the team to achieve impactful outcomes. The position requires a strong emphasis on collaboration, strategic resource allocation, and the ability to influence and engage with various stakeholders to advance immunization efforts.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Deputy Director will be responsible for ensuring that investment portfolios in priority geographies are well-grounded in relevant, country-specific targets. This includes engaging with other program strategy teams and country office teams to develop synchronized plans and opportunities for collaboration. The role requires managing a team of program officers, overseeing hiring, onboarding, performance expectations, goal alignment, and employee development. The Deputy Director will also contribute to creating an effective leadership team within the Immunization Program Strategy Team, fostering an inclusive culture, managing resources, and reporting results to stakeholders. Additionally, the Deputy Director will lead engagement strategies with partners such as Gavi, oversee foundation investments, facilitate annual investment plans and budgets, provide strategic guidance for grants and contracts, assess portfolio risks, and mentor colleagues and grantees to achieve impactful results. The position may require up to 30% travel.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree or equivalent work experience in a relevant field, along with at least 15 years of experience in public health, epidemiology, statistics, or related areas. A demonstrated ability to lead and manage effective teams with clear priorities and a healthy team culture is essential. Candidates should have a deep understanding of global health dynamics at various levels and a proven track record in supporting health and immunization system strengthening in low-income countries, particularly in Nigeria, Ethiopia, Pakistan, and India. Familiarity with Polio Eradication efforts is preferred. Strong skills in scientific writing, data analysis, and communication are necessary, along with experience in strategic planning and collaboration within complex organizations.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in public health, epidemiology, statistics, or a related field is required. Equivalent work experience may also be considered in lieu of formal education. Candidates should have a strong foundation in global health principles and practices, particularly as they relate to immunization and public health systems.

Experience:
