Job Overview: The Investment Analyst position within the Manufacturing and Services Solutions and Impact Department (WKPTM) of the WBG is designed to support the implementation of investments and solutions in the Manufacturing sector. The role involves preparing sector mappings, strategies, and management briefings, as well as enhancing WBG expertise in Manufacturing through benchmarking and analyzing industry trends. The Investment Analyst will also be responsible for developing new business opportunities, supporting transactions, and managing key global client relationships. This position requires collaboration with sector leads, industry specialists, and regional teams to conduct industry and market research, contributing to the WBG's mission of promoting sustainable development in emerging markets.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Investment Analyst will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Sector Support, Business Development, and Knowledge Management: - Conducting market research and analysis, including comparator analysis and assessment of market dynamics. - Preparing sector mapping to identify potential global clients and business opportunities. - Researching prospective client companies and assisting in the preparation of sector strategies and client pitchbooks. - Contributing to the dissemination and exchange of knowledge within the organization.
Deal Execution and Investment Portfolio: - Collecting market data and coordinating with clients to obtain necessary information for financial, operational, and development impact assessments. - Analyzing company financial statements and projections, building financial models, and preparing sensitivity analyses. - Coordinating with internal resources for input on relevant investment documents and analyses under the supervision of senior colleagues.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, economics, or relevant industries. Additionally, at least 2 years of relevant work experience is required, preferably at an international investment bank, commercial bank, private equity firm, consulting firm, asset management firm, or within the Manufacturing sector. The ideal candidate should demonstrate strong analytical and problem-solving skills, sound business judgment, and the ability to present large amounts of data effectively. Proficiency in AI, Excel, PowerPoint, and other tools for market and industry research is essential. Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work in multicultural teams are also necessary, along with excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as business, finance, or economics is required for this position. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding financial markets, investment strategies, and economic principles relevant to the Manufacturing and Services sectors.
Experience: The position requires at least 2 years of relevant work experience in fields such as international investment banking, commercial banking, private equity, consulting, asset management, or within the Manufacturing industry. This experience should include exposure to financial analysis, market research, and client relationship management, which are critical for the role of an Investment Analyst.
Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. Additionally, knowledge of Spanish and French is preferred, as these languages can enhance communication with a broader range of clients and stakeholders in the global market.
