The incumbent will produce tender documents, prepare abstracts of offers, finalize purchase orders and contracts, and assist in more complex purchasing operations. Additionally, the Procurement Assistant will maintain relevant internal databases, research and present information on suppliers, draft routine correspondence, and perform other duties as assigned. The role requires a thorough understanding of procurement processes and the ability to apply good judgment in various situations.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, along with a certificate of completion of CIPS Procurement at level
Candidates must possess at least five years of progressively responsible experience in procurement or related areas, with a reduction to three years for those holding a first-level university degree or higher. Experience within the United Nations common system and familiarity with procurement-related matters is desirable. Candidates should also have experience working with an ERP system such as SAP (UMOJA) and knowledge of the Financial Regulations and Rules of the United Nations or similar organizations.
Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Additionally, candidates must have completed a CIPS Procurement certificate at level 4, which demonstrates a foundational understanding of procurement principles and practices. This educational background is essential for effectively carrying out the responsibilities of the Procurement Assistant role.
Experience: Candidates must have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in procurement, administrative services, or a related area. This experience should include a demonstrated ability to manage procurement processes effectively. For candidates with a first-level university degree or higher, the minimum required experience is reduced to three years.
