Job Overview:
The Driver position at UNODC in Accra is primarily responsible for ensuring the safe and reliable transportation of authorized personnel. This role is crucial for the smooth operation of the organization's activities in the region. The driver will also be tasked with maintaining the vehicles in good working condition, which includes regular checks and necessary repairs. Additionally, the driver will provide administrative and facility support as needed, which may involve assisting with logistical arrangements for meetings and events. The position is classified at the entry level, making it suitable for individuals looking to start their careers in international organizations.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Safely transport UNODC personnel to various destinations as required, ensuring adherence to traffic regulations and safety protocols.
• Conduct regular vehicle inspections and maintenance checks to ensure the vehicles are in optimal condition.
• Maintain accurate records of vehicle usage, including mileage, fuel consumption, and maintenance activities.
• Assist in logistical arrangements for meetings, workshops, and other events, including setting up venues and providing necessary support.
• Provide administrative support as needed, which may include filing, data entry, and other clerical tasks.
• Ensure that all safety and security measures are followed while transporting personnel and handling sensitive materials.
• Respond to emergency situations promptly and effectively, ensuring the safety of passengers and the vehicle.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and a clean driving record. They should have a good understanding of road safety regulations and the ability to navigate effectively in urban and rural settings. Strong communication skills are essential, as the driver will interact with various personnel and stakeholders. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate reliability, punctuality, and a commitment to providing excellent service. Basic knowledge of vehicle maintenance is also required to ensure the vehicles are kept in good working order.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Additional training or certifications related to vehicle operation and maintenance would be advantageous. Candidates should also have a good command of English, as it is the working language of the organization.

Experience:
This is an entry-level position, and while prior experience as a driver is preferred, it is not mandatory. Candidates with experience in similar roles, particularly in international organizations or NGOs, will be given preference. Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of additional languages, particularly local dialects or French, would be considered an asset and could enhance communication with diverse stakeholders.

The contract for this position is classified as ICA - LICA - Support - Regular, with a duration of two months and the possibility of extension based on the availability of funds and satisfactory performance. The position is full-time and is classified at the entry level (ICS 02).
