Job Overview:
The Project Director for the STRIDES Activity in Ghana will play a pivotal role in leading and directing the implementation of initiatives aimed at enhancing Global Health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (GHS) priorities. This position is crucial for strengthening laboratory and surveillance systems to effectively prevent, detect, and respond to emerging infectious diseases and public health threats. The Project Director will be responsible for managing all aspects of the STRIDES project, including personnel, budget, and technical activities. This role requires a strategic leader who can develop and implement annual work plans, monitor project progress, and ensure compliance with financial and administrative requirements. The Project Director will also serve as the primary liaison with the United States Department of State, the Government of Ghana, and other partners, ensuring effective collaboration and communication throughout the project lifecycle.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Project Director will be accountable for planning, directing, and coordinating all activities related to the STRIDES project. Key responsibilities include establishing work plans, managing project teams, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The Project Director will directly manage technical, program, finance, and operational staff, fostering a safe and equitable work environment. Responsibilities also include reviewing project proposals, managing relationships with government counterparts and partners, and leading the in-country team. The Project Director will provide guidance and training to staff, support performance management, and ensure timely delivery of high-quality deliverables. Additionally, the role involves ensuring financial and contractual compliance with FHI 360 and donor regulations, as well as overseeing subcontractors across various health sectors.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess comprehensive knowledge of project management theories, concepts, and practices, with a strong preference for familiarity with international GHS frameworks. Excellent project management skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders. Strong influencing and negotiation skills are required, as well as prior experience managing relationships with government and implementing partners. Leadership skills within a matrixed organization are crucial, along with critical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to build positive relationships with local communities and government officials, and prior experience in an international NGO is a plus.

Educational Background:
A Bachelor's degree or its international equivalent in public health or a related health field is required, with a Master's degree preferred. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of public health initiatives and the management of large-scale projects.

Experience:
A minimum of 10 years of experience is required, including at least 5 years in line management roles with increasing responsibility. Candidates should have experience in designing, implementing, and managing large development programs, particularly those funded by the US government. Familiarity with financial management tools and compliance with donor regulations is also necessary. Experience working on GHS projects or across multiple health sectors is desirable, along with a proven track record in strategic planning and capacity building.

Languages:
Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking) is mandatory for this position. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as required.

Additional Notes:
The position is expected to require travel of 10% to 25%. The hiring salary range for this role is between USD 45,000 and 65,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
