Job Overview:
The Senior Emergency Preparedness and Response Officer will play a crucial role in providing technical support and guidance for the implementation of the Strengthening Infectious Disease Detection Systems (STRIDES) emergency response activities in Ghana. This position involves overseeing the work of professional staff and rapid response teams, ensuring that emergency response activities align with approved workplans. The officer will be responsible for developing training strategies, facilitating capacity-building activities, and creating technical materials. Additionally, the officer will prepare reports for donors, highlighting achievements in emergency response activities and may coordinate with various in-country organizations, including government counterparts, to effectively respond to emergency outbreaks. This role requires strong leadership and the ability to adapt to rapidly changing situations in the field.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Senior Emergency Preparedness and Response Officer will oversee the daily implementation of emergency preparedness and response activities, demonstrating strong judgment in developing methods and evaluation criteria to address emerging infectious disease threats. Responsibilities include networking with internal and external personnel, providing input on national guidelines for emergency response, assisting in the development of tools and materials, and leading the creation of emergency response workplans. The officer will coordinate with technical and programmatic teams to ensure compliance with award requirements and FHI 360 policies. Additionally, the officer will support the preparation of donor reports, gather necessary data for documentation, and assist with technical troubleshooting and data analysis. The role also involves ensuring effective communication and collaboration with community teams to support public health messaging and community engagement activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or its international equivalent in Public Health, Emergency Management, Disaster Risk Reduction, or a related field. The position requires a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience in emergency or rapid outbreak response, with significant field-based roles. Candidates should have documented leadership experience in implementing global health security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security-focused projects, particularly in emergency preparedness and response. Proficiency in current program developments in this area is essential, along with a strong understanding of the global health security landscape and best practices in emergency response.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree or its international equivalent in a relevant field such as Public Health, Emergency Management, or Disaster Risk Reduction is required for this position. This educational background provides the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively manage emergency preparedness and response initiatives.

Experience:
The ideal candidate will have at least 6 years of relevant experience in emergency or rapid outbreak response, with a strong emphasis on field-based roles. Experience in leading global health security projects and a thorough understanding of emergency preparedness and response best practices are crucial. Prior work experience with non-governmental organizations, U.S. government agencies, or private organizations is preferred, particularly with USG-funded contracts.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills required. Additional language skills may be beneficial but are not specified as mandatory for this position.

Additional Notes:
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities and typically reports to an Associate Director, Technical, STRIDES Ghana. The expected salary range for this role is between USD 20,000 and 30,000 annually, depending on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
