Job Overview: The EHA Coordinator is a technical reference for the mission, contributing to the development of the Solidarités International strategy by proposing a sectoral strategy in the field of Water, Hygiene, and Sanitation (EHA). The coordinator is responsible for ensuring the quality and relevance of the technical approaches proposed and ensuring alignment between EHA activities, the organization's general objectives, and the needs of the populations. The role involves coordinating the project cycle, particularly the operational follow-up of EHA programs implemented in the country. The coordinator will lead the sectoral positioning of SI within the EHA cluster and pilot the revision of EHA sectoral approaches on the mission. Additionally, the coordinator will contribute to the capitalization and improvement of EHA methods and techniques used by Solidarités International.
Duties and Responsibilities: The EHA Coordinator will have several key responsibilities, including:
Leading EHA projects within the mission and ensuring effective implementation.
Strengthening sectoral engagement with the WASH cluster and other humanitarian coordination frameworks.
Ensuring a strategic positioning of SI within the WASH cluster and working groups.
Participating in project writing during the project proposal season and preparing various activity reports.
Familiarizing with the EHA mission strategy for 2025 and leading ongoing and upcoming projects related to EHA strategies for 2026-203
Operational follow-up of ongoing EHA programs.
Maintaining SI's role as a focal point for EHA in intervention areas and in cholera working groups.
Remaining a key player in emergency EHA interventions and promoting new sectoral approaches.
Continuing to be a major actor in the construction and rehabilitation of water networks in intervention areas. 1
Diversifying funding and expanding intervention areas to increase operational volume.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a higher education degree in hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, rural development, construction, public health, or project management. They should have a strong technical knowledge and experience in WASH (both hard and soft components), particularly in the construction of water facilities and sanitation systems. Additionally, candidates should have a good understanding of community mobilization and methodologies for promoting hygiene and sanitation best practices. Strong project cycle management skills, the ability to develop relevant monitoring tools, and excellent organizational and communication skills are essential. Experience in epidemic responses (cholera, Ebola, Mpox, etc.) and a solid understanding of public health are also required. Leadership capabilities and the ability to manage multidimensional teams are crucial, along with a good understanding of accountability frameworks and cross-cutting protection issues.
Educational Background: A university degree in hydraulic engineering, civil engineering, rural development, construction, public health, or project management is required for this position. The educational background should provide a solid foundation in the technical aspects of water, sanitation, and hygiene promotion, as well as project management principles.
Experience: Candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 5 years in a similar position. This experience should include a strong technical background in WASH and demonstrated leadership in managing projects and teams in challenging environments.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory, while proficiency in English and Swahili is considered an asset. Candidates should be able to communicate effectively in both written and spoken forms in these languages to engage with diverse stakeholders and communities.

The salary is based on experience, starting from EUR 2860 gross per month, which includes a base salary and a 10% annual leave allowance paid monthly. Additionally, a monthly per diem of USD 800 is provided. SI covers housing costs and travel expenses between the expatriate's home country and the duty station. A break system is in place, allowing for 7 working days off every three months, with additional rest days accrued. Expatriates receive comprehensive health insurance covering medical expenses, including dental and ophthalmological care, and necessary vaccinations. Living conditions include accommodation in guest houses with private rooms and bathrooms, access to varied and quality food, and some recreational activities. Security measures are in place, with evolving rules based on the context, including curfews that may change according to the area. Due to the ongoing MVE epidemic, certain restrictions are currently in effect in Goma, where the position is based.
