Job Overview:
The Junior Landscape Architect will play a crucial role in supporting the UN-Habitat Jordan Head of Country office and project managers in delivering technical outputs that advance greening and resilience in urban areas. This position involves assisting in the implementation of the Rethinking Sahab Project and the Smart Urban Water Management project. The Junior Landscape Architect will contribute to the development of reports, assessments, and designs that focus on enhancing public spaces and urban greening strategies. The role requires a proactive approach to research, analysis, and collaboration with various stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of project activities aimed at improving the quality of life in Sahab City and addressing urban water management challenges.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Junior Landscape Architect will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: supporting project coordinators in executing UN-Habitat programs effectively and timely; conducting desktop research and data collection; providing technical support for the development and finalization of assessment reports; drafting narrative sections and maps for inclusion in reports; preparing logistical arrangements for capacity-building workshops and meetings; documenting project information through reports and meeting minutes; translating documents and assessments; reviewing urban greening and climate change reports; and providing additional technical support as required. The consultant will also engage with stakeholders on behalf of UN-Habitat, ensuring adherence to the highest standards of efficiency, competence, and integrity.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced degree in landscape architecture, agriculture, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with an additional two years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Up to two years of relevant experience in landscape architecture, agricultural engineering, or a related field is required. Candidates should demonstrate an understanding of greening practices, possess strong research and analytical skills, and be proficient in office software packages such as Adobe, MS Word, and Excel. Experience working with international development organizations is desirable, along with strong written and oral communication skills.

Educational Background:
An advanced degree in landscape architecture, agriculture, or a related field is required for this position. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by two additional years of relevant experience. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute effectively to the projects.

Experience:
The position requires up to two years of experience related to landscape architecture, agricultural engineering, or a similar field. This experience should include practical knowledge of greening practices and the ability to conduct research and analysis. Candidates with experience in international development organizations will have an advantage, as they will be familiar with the operational context and challenges faced in such environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic (both oral and written) is required for this position. English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat, but for this role, proficiency in Arabic is essential to communicate effectively with local stakeholders and communities.

Additional Notes:
The position is part-time and expected to last for six months. The consultant will work under the supervision of the UN-Habitat Jordan Head of Country office and project coordinators.
