Job Overview: The position of Local Consultant for the Qualitative Study on Empowerment involves conducting qualitative research to gather insights on women's empowerment in specific contexts. The consultant will be expected to apply qualitative research methodologies such as focus groups, semi-structured interviews, and participant observation. The role requires a deep understanding of gender analysis with an intersectional approach, particularly in rural, indigenous, or extractive industry contexts. The consultant will also need to integrate quantitative and qualitative evidence into a comprehensive analysis, ensuring that the findings are relevant and actionable. Additionally, knowledge of national and international legal frameworks regarding women's rights, indigenous peoples, and rural communities in Peru is essential. The consultant will engage with communities in Arequipa and surrounding areas, facilitating participatory processes to gather data and insights.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct qualitative research using methodologies such as focus groups and semi-structured interviews to gather data on women's empowerment.
Analyze gender issues with an intersectional lens, particularly in rural and indigenous contexts.
Integrate quantitative and qualitative data to provide a comprehensive analysis of the findings.
Familiarize oneself with the national and international legal frameworks related to women's rights and indigenous communities.
Knowledge of national and international frameworks regarding women's rights and indigenous peoples.
Educational Background: A degree in social sciences, gender studies, anthropology, or a related field is required. Advanced degrees or specialized training in qualitative research methodologies or gender analysis are preferred.
Experience: A minimum of 3-5 years of experience in qualitative research, particularly in gender analysis and community engagement. Experience working with indigenous communities or in rural settings is highly desirable.
Languages: Fluency in Spanish is mandatory. Knowledge of Quechua is desirable but not mandatory. Proficiency in English is a plus.
Additional Notes: This position may involve a contract of limited duration, with potential for extension based on project needs. The role is expected to be part-time, with flexible hours to accommodate community engagement activities. The consultant will be expected to work closely with UN Women and local stakeholders, ensuring that the research aligns with the organization's mission and objectives.
