Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position focuses on supporting the activities of the Protection against Violence division, which aims to prevent and respond to violence based on disability, gender, and age. The intern will assist in enhancing the visibility and communication of the division's activities, contribute to identifying and mobilizing funding sources, and support the drafting of content for both internal and external communication. The intern will work under the supervision of a Protection specialist and may interact with other specialists in health, inclusion, and education. The internship is designed to provide practical experience in communication and operational support within a humanitarian context, particularly in relation to the protection of vulnerable populations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Communication: Writing, proofreading, and editing content in both French and English; translating and revising documents; ensuring accessibility of written content; contributing to the production of accessible written, audio, and video communication materials; assisting in the capitalization of the iD4C (Inclusive Dance 4 Changes) approach by contributing to reports, good practice sheets, and lessons learned; updating, organizing, and classifying existing communication tools; supporting coverage of internal events such as HI TALK and training sessions.
Operational support for Protection unit activities: Contributing to the drafting of capacity statements; assisting in the writing of conceptual notes and project proposals; participating in team meetings and producing minutes as necessary; supporting the organization of internal events led by the division, such as regional training on Inclusive Case Management; contributing to other missions of the Protection against Violence unit as needed by team members.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should be pursuing a Master's degree or equivalent in Communication, Social Sciences (Sociology or Gender Studies), Law (International Law, Human Rights), International Relations or Development, or Humanitarian Project Management. Candidates with a lower academic qualification (certificate or bachelor's degree) but with significant work experience related to the themes may also be considered, provided they can obtain a convention from Pole Emploi. A solid understanding of general protection issues, particularly gender-based violence (GBV), child protection (CP), human rights, gender equality, and disability inclusion is essential.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should be enrolled in or have completed a Master's program in relevant fields such as Communication, Social Sciences, Law, International Relations, or Development. Candidates with practical experience in related areas may also be considered, even if they do not meet the formal educational requirements, as long as they can provide a valid internship agreement from a French educational institution.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a background in communication or related fields, with a preference for those who have experience in humanitarian contexts or with vulnerable populations. Experience in writing, editing, and producing communication materials is highly valued, as well as familiarity with the principles of protection and advocacy for marginalized groups.
Languages: Fluency in French (reading, writing, and speaking) is mandatory, as is proficiency in English. Additional languages such as Spanish, Arabic, Portuguese, Kiswahili, Luganda, or Lingala are considered advantageous and will enhance a candidate's profile.
