Job Overview:
The Life Skill and Artisan Trainer position is designed to equip participants from refugee and host communities with practical skills in bead-making and artisan crafts, as well as essential life skills and entrepreneurship competencies. This role aligns with the UNHCR MADE51 framework, which aims to support participants in producing high-quality, market-ready products that reflect their cultural heritage. The initiative is in collaboration with Roots, a social enterprise partner based in Juba, and aims to provide participants with fair market opportunities, enabling them to achieve sustainable livelihoods and financial independence in accordance with Fair Trade principles. The trainer will be responsible for conducting training needs assessments, developing training plans, and delivering technical training to ensure participants are well-prepared for market demands.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The key responsibilities of the Life Skill and Artisan Trainer include conducting a rapid assessment of trainees’ existing artisanal skills and cultural craft traditions, recommending suitable training approaches, and developing a detailed training schedule in collaboration with Roots. The trainer will prepare structured lesson plans and training materials, ensuring they are learner-friendly. Additionally, the trainer will be responsible for donor reporting, maintaining communication with stakeholders such as WFP and UNICEF, and preparing high-quality reports within agreed timelines. The trainer will also oversee the production of various beadwork and craft items, ensuring quality control and adherence to international market standards. Furthermore, the trainer will provide instruction in life skills, covering areas such as communication, leadership, conflict resolution, and entrepreneurship, while also teaching financial literacy and business management skills.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants for the Life Skill and Artisan Trainer position should possess a degree or diploma in Vocational Skills Training in Art and Design, Fashion and Craft Design, Community Development, Entrepreneurship, Social Enterprise, or a related field. Candidates should have a minimum of 2 to 5 years of experience in beadwork and handicraft production, preferably with a focus on market-oriented production. Expertise in facilitating vocational and life skills training is essential, along with demonstrated experience working with NGOs, community groups, youth, or women. Experience in entrepreneurship coaching and market linkage development is advantageous, as is experience working within a social enterprise context.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a degree or diploma in relevant fields such as Vocational Skills Training, Art and Design, Fashion and Craft Design, Community Development, Entrepreneurship, or Social Enterprise. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the principles of artisan skills and the socio-economic context in which the training will occur.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 2 to 5 years of relevant experience in beadwork and handicraft production, with a preference for those who have market-oriented production experience.
