Job Overview:
The Protection from Violence (PfV) Officer position is crucial for the day-to-day implementation of the Protection from Violence project portfolio within the Emergency Response and Recovery Management (ERRM) framework. The PfV Officer will play a significant role in ensuring the successful execution of PfV programs, which include Individual Response Services, Civilian-Self Protection, and Leadership and Influence initiatives. This position requires a commitment to service delivery, monitoring project activities, ensuring compliance with technical standards, and effective communication with communities. The PfV Officer will spend approximately 50% of their time traveling to deliver mobile services, highlighting the need for flexibility and adaptability in this role. The officer will also provide technical support and capacity development to the PfV Coordinator and, when delegated, to the PfV Specialist, contributing valuable insights from project activities to inform strategic decisions and enhance the relevance of PfV programming.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The PfV Officer will be responsible for a comprehensive set of duties, including but not limited to: ensuring adherence to NRC policies, tools, handbooks, and guidelines; implementing the delegated Protection from Violence project portfolio according to the established plan of action; preparing and developing status reports as required by management; ensuring proper documentation and filing of project-related documents; targeting beneficiaries most in need and exploring innovative ways to assist them; promoting and sharing ideas for technical improvements; implementing civilian self-protection programming; delivering individual response services; conducting protection monitoring, analysis, and advocacy activities in line with Safe and Inclusive Programming principles; ensuring compliance with NRC’s Code of Conduct and humanitarian principles; collaborating with other PfV Officers in service provision; producing regular reports and supporting the PfV Coordinator and Specialist in submitting internal and donor reports; assessing and documenting ideas for technical improvements; overseeing the achievement of activity targets according to NRC and donor requirements; and developing effective working relationships with relevant stakeholders, including partner agencies and community leaders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a range of qualifications to be considered for this position. These include experience working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian or recovery context, with a proven track record of success in complex and volatile environments. Documented results related to the responsibilities of the position are essential. Knowledge of English is mandatory, and proficiency in Arabic is considered an added advantage. Candidates should also have 1-3 years of experience with Protection activities and programming, demonstrating self-motivation, strong organizational and communication skills, and experience in community engagement processes and participatory assessments. Understanding the rights and protection issues faced by displacement-affected populations is crucial, as is experience working on displacement-related issues. Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills are necessary, along with the ability to work effectively in diverse cultural environments. Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for the Protection from Violence Officer position typically includes a degree in social sciences, humanitarian studies, international relations, or a related field.
