Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Technical Advisor Security in implementing CRS's safety and security policies. This position involves gathering and analyzing security information related to CRS project activities in Benue and Plateau states. The Security Assistant will conduct periodic security risk assessments, track vehicle movements, and ensure that all programming activities comply with CRS Health Safety and Security protocols. The role requires effective communication with staff and partners, as well as the ability to respond to security incidents and maintain a network of influential actors in the region. The Security Assistant will also provide security briefings to staff and visitors, ensuring that all safety measures are adhered to during field operations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Assistant's duties include collecting information on safety and security situations in Benue and Plateau states, conducting security risk assessments, tracking and recording CRS vehicle movements, and ensuring compliance with CRS security protocols. The role involves responding to security incidents, maintaining communication with the Technical Advisor Security, and assisting in training staff on security procedures. The Security Assistant will also provide security briefings, monitor communication equipment, and conduct field visits to assess compliance with safety procedures. Additionally, the position requires maintaining a professional network to facilitate CRS's mission and coordinating with local authorities and other stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in community engagement, security risk management, or safety and security management within an international or local NGO context. A Bachelor's degree in criminology, peace and security studies, political sciences, or a related field is required. Professional certification in security studies is also necessary. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to plan and organize work effectively, write clear reports, and communicate efficiently both verbally and in writing. A stable and reliable character, along with excellent communication skills and a commitment to accountability practices, is essential.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in criminology, peace and security studies, political sciences, or a related subject. Additionally, candidates should have professional certification in security studies to ensure they possess the necessary knowledge and skills for the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in community engagement, security risk management, or safety and security management, preferably in an international or local NGO context. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to handle security-related responsibilities effectively and contribute to the safety of staff and operations.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory for this position. A basic knowledge of local languages such as Tiv, Idoma, Hausa, or Mghavul will be considered an added advantage, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.
