Job Overview: The internship is designed to provide practical experience in the implementation of activities within the framework of the UNODC Programme for Central Asia 2022-202
Interns will work under the supervision of professional staff and are expected to support various organizational functions, including the planning and execution of meetings, events, and conferences. The role involves drafting training materials, assisting in social media campaigns, and developing communication materials that highlight good practices and achievements. Interns will also engage in data collection and web research related to science, technology, and sustainable development issues, as well as support operational functions such as finance, procurement, and HR.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for providing support in the organization of meetings, events, and conferences aimed at strengthening strategic engagement with UN system partners. They will assist in processing, drafting, and finalizing training materials, and will help develop communication materials based on best practices and impact examples. Additionally, interns will conduct web research and provide analysis on relevant issues, add data to databases, and support various operational tasks, including finance and procurement. They will also assist with archiving by preparing procurement materials for archiving and updating the register of archived files.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be pursuing a graduate degree in law, international relations, management, business administration, finance, social sciences, or other relevant fields. They should be computer literate in standard software applications and demonstrate a keen interest in the work of the United Nations. A personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter is essential, along with the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. While professional work experience is not required, applicants must have a field of study closely related to the internship.
Educational Background: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have recently completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have recently completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent).
Experience: While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic backgrounds that align with the internship's focus areas. This includes being a student in the final year of a bachelor's degree, or enrolled in a master's or Ph.D. program, or having recently completed such programs.
Languages: Fluency in spoken and written English and Russian is required for the internship. Knowledge of Uzbek is desirable, and familiarity with an additional official UN language (such as Arabic, Chinese, French, or Spanish) is considered an advantage.
Additional Notes: The internship is unpaid and part-time, requiring interns to work five days a week for a total of 25 hours. Interns are responsible for their own travel, visa, accommodation, and living expenses. Those who are not citizens or permanent residents of Uzbekistan may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work authorization. The United Nations does not charge any fees at any stage of the recruitment process.
