Job Overview: The Programme Analyst position at UNFPA Uzbekistan Country Office is pivotal in managing and implementing UNFPA's activities related to Population and Development. The role involves analyzing political, social, and economic trends to provide substantive inputs for project formulation and evaluation. The Programme Analyst will guide the delivery of UNFPA’s programs, ensuring that systems and procedures are appropriately applied and enhanced as necessary. This position requires a proactive approach to monitoring results achieved during implementation and supporting program staff in selecting and applying appropriate data collection methods. The Programme Analyst will also play a crucial role in facilitating collaboration with government counterparts, NGOs, and other partners to align UNFPA's initiatives with national priorities and policies.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Analyst will be responsible for several key duties, including:
Collaborating with government counterparts, academia, NGOs, and other partners to contribute to the formulation and design of the country programme and its component projects in Population and Development.
Ensuring the quality of programme/project design by incorporating lessons learned and best practices, and establishing effective execution and monitoring mechanisms.
Analyzing and interpreting the political, social, and economic environment relevant to Population and Development issues to identify opportunities for UNFPA assistance.
Leading the documentation of knowledge and technical papers on current trends in Population and Development.
Assisting in advocacy and resource mobilization efforts by preparing relevant documentation and participating in donor meetings.
Monitoring project expenditures to ensure alignment with approved budgets and targeted delivery levels.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced degree in Population Studies, Demography, Statistics, Economics, Public Administration, International Development, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong commitment to UNFPA's mission and values, including integrity, cultural diversity, and adaptability to change. The role requires excellent analytical and strategic thinking skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in teams and manage relationships effectively. Candidates should also exhibit strong communication skills for impactful advocacy and results mobilization.
Educational Background: An advanced degree in a relevant field such as Population Studies, Demography, Statistics, Economics, Public Administration, or International Development is required for this position. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of population dynamics and development issues, as well as for effectively contributing to the design and implementation of UNFPA's programs.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of experience at the national or international level in designing, managing, implementing, monitoring, and evaluating development programs and projects. This experience should include a strong familiarity with the usage of computers and office software packages, as well as a demonstrated ability to analyze and interpret data relevant to Population and Development.
Languages: Fluency in English, Uzbek, and Russian is required for this position. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders, including government officials, NGOs, and international partners. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
