Job Overview: The Project Coordinator will play a crucial role in managing the implementation of the Energizing Humanitarian Futures (EHF) project in Uganda. This position involves engaging with various stakeholders in the humanitarian and energy sectors, representing EHF at key events, and identifying opportunities for energy programs that cater to vulnerable populations. The coordinator will be responsible for designing and delivering public-private partnership workshops, conducting technical assessments, and providing support for project implementation. The role requires a strong focus on collaboration with local actors and stakeholders to ensure the successful deployment of sustainable energy solutions in refugee hosting districts. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for generating knowledge based on program outputs and advocating for the implementation of identified projects.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Project Coordinator's duties include managing work plans, overseeing budgets, ensuring donor compliance, and reporting on project progress. The coordinator will organize workshops and stakeholder consultations, support the development of public-private partnerships, and lead data collection efforts. They will manage relationships with government entities, private sector partners, and local NGOs, ensuring the inclusion of refugee-led organizations in project activities. The coordinator will also be responsible for safeguarding responsibilities, integrating safeguarding practices into their work, and promoting accountability to program participants and stakeholders. Additionally, they will generate donor-facing briefing notes and advocate for project implementation based on identified opportunities.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate proven expertise in advocacy, particularly with the Government of Uganda, UN agencies, and INGOs. Previous experience in Uganda's refugee response and a minimum of 8 years of experience in sustainable energy access or climate resilience is required. Skills in grant writing, technical advisory, stakeholder engagement, and business development are essential. Familiarity with integrated approaches and systems thinking is also important. Candidates should have strong theoretical and applied knowledge in their field of expertise, along with experience in monitoring, evaluation, and knowledge dissemination.
Educational Background: A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent is preferred, with a Master’s degree in a relevant field such as humanitarian response, energy access, sustainable development, or environmental engineering being advantageous. Familiarity with major donors like USAID, FCDO, and ECHO is also beneficial for candidates.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience, particularly in providing technical support in sustainable energy access and climate resilience. Candidates should have a strong background in advocacy, stakeholder engagement, and business development, with a proven track record of working with local communities and organizations in similar contexts.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while proficiency in another language is preferred. This linguistic capability will enhance communication with diverse stakeholders and facilitate effective project implementation.
