Job Overview:
The Child Protection Officer position at UNICEF is crucial for providing professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for child protection programs and projects within the Country Programme. The role involves supporting all stages from development planning to effective delivery of results, ensuring that interventions are well-implemented and contribute to the overall objectives of child protection. The officer will engage in program development and planning, manage and monitor program delivery, provide technical and operational support for program implementation, build networks and partnerships, and contribute to innovation, knowledge management, and capacity building. This position is integral to ensuring that UNICEF's child protection initiatives are effective and impactful, ultimately aiming to safeguard the rights and well-being of children in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and planning of child protection programs, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic objectives.
  • Manage and monitor the implementation of child protection programs, ensuring timely delivery of results and adherence to quality standards.
  • Provide technical and operational support to program implementation, including training and capacity building for local partners and stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and community organizations to enhance program effectiveness and sustainability.
  • Engage in innovation and knowledge management activities to improve program delivery and outcomes.
  • Contribute to the development of reports and documentation related to program progress and impact.
  • Participate in inter-agency coordination meetings and contribute to the overall child protection agenda at the country level.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor or equivalent (First Level University Degree) in fields such as international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">international law, or another relevant social science field. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of two years of professional experience in social development planning and management, specifically in child protection-related areas. Strong skills in child protection, program management, monitoring, and evaluation are essential for this role.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as international development, human rights, psychology, sociology, international law, or other social sciences. This foundational education is critical for understanding the complexities of child protection and social development.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience in social development planning and management, particularly in areas related to child protection. Relevant experience in program development within a UN system agency or organization, as well as experience at the country level in development, fragile settings, and humanitarian contexts, is highly desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in French is mandatory for this position. Additionally, a working knowledge of English is desirable, along with knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language, which would be beneficial for effective communication and collaboration in the role.
