Job Overview: The Information and Communications Technology (ICT) Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the UNFPA's ICT systems, which encompass enterprise resource planning, desktop administration, server operations, hardware, software, and audio-visual components. The ICT Assistant is responsible for providing second-level customer service support, troubleshooting, and training to staff across the organization. Duties and Responsibilities: The ICT Assistant is tasked with a comprehensive range of duties, including:
General ICT / Office Support: - Receiving and logging service requests from users. - Creating and assigning work orders to ensure timely resolution of issues. - Maintaining and updating electronic and paper files, as well as internal databases. - Managing ICT inventory, manuals, and documentation. - Assisting in the physical handling of equipment, including lifting, moving, and mounting as necessary.
ICT Administration: - Providing specialized support for routine ICT activities, including evaluating, testing, installing, and configuring systems and tools. - Assisting in the administration and operation of server systems, ensuring they function optimally. - Offering second-level user support and troubleshooting for various ICT-related issues. - Extracting data from databases to fulfill user requests and diagnosing errors for correction. - Performing regular backups of servers according to established procedures. - Designing and generating computer reports as needed. - Assessing user training needs and preparing training materials for on-the-job training. - Providing remote technical support for country offices lacking on-site ICT presence.
Managerial Functions: - Ensuring integrity, transparency, and equity in the handling of UNFPA resources, including office equipment and supplies. - Reporting any damage, loss, or maintenance needs of UNFPA assets in a timely manner, adhering to organizational policies.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma as a minimum requirement, while a baccalaureate or equivalent is preferred. Additionally, applicants should have at least five years of progressively responsible experience in ICT, demonstrating relevant knowledge of UNFPA's ICT strategy, regulations, and procedures. A strong understanding of computer information systems, including operating systems, hardware, and applications software, is essential.
