Job Overview:
The security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting the Technical Advisor Security by implementing CRS safety and security policies in the management of project activities. This position involves sourcing and collating relevant security information regarding safety and security threats within CRS project activity areas, specifically in Benue and Plateau states. The Security Assistant will conduct periodic security risk assessments, track and record CRS vehicle movements, and ensure that all programming activities align with CRS Health Safety and Security protocols. The role requires responding to security incidents, maintaining a network of influential actors, and providing security support during field staff outreach activities. The Security Assistant will also be responsible for writing and submitting regular situational reports on project security context and ensuring adherence to security operating procedures and contingency plans.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Security Assistant's duties include collecting information on safety and security situations in Benue and Plateau states, conducting periodic security risk assessments, and tracking all CRS vehicle movements in these locations. The assistant will work closely with partner organizations to ensure compliance with CRS safety protocols, respond to security incidents, and maintain a network of influential actors to communicate CRS's status and mission. Responsibilities also include providing security briefings to staff and visitors, monitoring communication equipment, and ensuring that all incidents are documented with official reports. The Security Assistant will conduct field visits to assess compliance with safety procedures, review lodging options for staff, and coordinate with the Technical Advisor Security on safety issues.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of experience in community engagement, security risk management, or safety and security management within an international or local NGO context. A Bachelor's degree in criminology, peace and security studies, political sciences, or a related field is required, along with professional certification in security studies. Candidates must be Nigerian nationals and demonstrate the ability to plan, organize work, and communicate effectively in both written and verbal forms. Strong prioritization skills and a commitment to accountability practices are essential, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Educational Background:
The position requires a Bachelor's degree in criminology, peace and security studies, political sciences, or a related subject. Additionally, candidates should have professional certification in security studies to enhance their qualifications for the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in community engagement, security risk management, or safety and security management, particularly in the context of international or local NGOs. This experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of security operations in humanitarian settings and for effectively managing risks associated with project activities.

Languages:
Fluency in oral and written English is mandatory for this position. A basic knowledge of local languages such as Tiv, Idoma, Hausa, or Mghavul is considered an added advantage, as it can facilitate communication with local communities and enhance the effectiveness of security operations.

The position involves significant travel, with approximately 60% of the time spent in field locations within Benue and Plateau states. The role does not have supervisory responsibilities but requires strong collaboration with various internal and external stakeholders.
